Anyone know the over/under elimination date for the Mets from the 2011 NL East race? I think it's sometime in August.
Thanks for your help.

<< <i>Well, if nothing else, you'll now have to include the Phillies when you talk about high payroll clubs ruining competitive balance in baseball.. >>
Can't let the New York teams walk all over ya - at least in Philly...those days are over.
BTW: Despite the benefits the Phillies are obviously deriving from all this, I'm still in favor of a salary cap in MLB.

I just looked it up - the Mets over/under elimination date is in April. Can that be right?

We do not bring that up when it involves his team.

I'll repeat it again for those who have trouble understanding English. LOL

Agreed. The NFL should be the model for baseball. Having perpetually bad teams in KC, Pittsburgh, and other small markets is not sustainable.

No, I think it's right. Sometime around the middle of April.

I've heard that Grote15 is already stocking up on the Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, to get him through the Mets soon to be dreadful, losing 2011 season. LOL
Who the he&& makes up your coaching staff...
Is that a joke???

Tim knows it's all in good fun..."demented" fun perhaps, but fun nevertheless.

I made the semifinals after a late comeback in the CU fantasy football league, so all is good, LOL..

That'll help keep ya in a good mood.
I'm in such a good mood between the Phillies off season and the Eagles playing well...anyone could burn my house, steal my car, drink my liquor from an old fruit jar...and I'd still be in a good mood. LOL

I bet your mood would change when some Mets fan stomps on your blue suede shoes.

Yes, that would tick me off. Fortunately the Mets have few fans left so I ain't worried about it happening.

Doug understands what it takes to be a Mets fan...lots of patience and a willingness to suffer before celebrating. The '69 and '86 Mets teams are among the most famous of all championship teams of all time, so when we do finally win, it's very sweet indeed!

The 1986 WS was quite interesting, but I wouldn't equate it to the 1969 WS which was truly something special...even amazing.
I'm pretty sure the rare footage I have of the Mets getting the last out shows a young SteveK rushing out onto the field to congratulate Jerry Grote...

I still say the Mets don't win that series without him.
I think a quote by Johnny Bench about Grote, sums up how good a catcher Grote was. Bench said, “If I played for the Mets at that time, I’d have been playing third base”.
