A little help, please: Shipping silver bullion from the US to Canada ?

Can someone walk me through how it would work to ship silver bullion (rounds, bars) from the USA to Canada. Value would be less than US$1000. I've never done that before, but I have a potential buyer who was asking about it via a forum I'm on (so it's not an eBay transaction).

I was thinking that I'd ask for payment via paypal, which I think has a 3.9% transaction fee for cross border payments. How would I want to ship that so that I could track the delivery and get appropriate insurance? What kind of customs form would I fill out?

Thanks for the info!

Might not work out for your Canadian buyer.

If you insure the package (as I'm sure you'll want to), I'm pretty sure your Canadian buyer will have to pay 13% Customs fee when he receives the shipment.

In regards to how you ship it, I'm afraid I can't help you out as I'm in Canada.

Bump for monday. I would appreciate a little more help from someone in the US who's shipped to the cold 51st state image
  • Not sure how strict your PO is, but the one I go to is quite specific about following regulations. They don't allow coins, currency, bullion, etc.
There is probably a way to get around it, but I just wasn't creative enough to come up with a way.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Here is a link to USPS for shipping Intl.

If the silver is Canadian in origin it is not taxed. Otherwise it is probably a waste of
time for the both of you. He can get it cheaper in Canada and you would not have the
hassle. Just sell in on our BST.
