When mailing bullion to a outfit like AMPMEX, how does it work?

You call and lock in price on the day you ship?

Or is it dependent on the spot price of the day it arrives??

for Tulving, you call them to get their UPS account, pack the items, hand over to UPS, take the shipment code given by UPS and call Tulving with that code. When you make the call with the shipping code, you lock in your price.

The price is locked in when you call or email and agree to sell, not when they receive your package.

But there is also a time frame involved..Usually good for 5 days.

Your LOCKED in once you receive a confirmation # email right after agreed price on the phone.

  • Apmex, yes once you set up an account with them, deal is then made and you are locked into the price. I would ask and confirm the time frame of you receiving your check. Also, make sure you ship UPS "high security", ask Apmex? I would not ship regular ground or by any other means other than" high security". Not sure the term UPS using for security shipping.
  • I'm thinking Priority Mail Flat Rate Box, but that would have to be Registered, which would likely push the shipping time past the 5 day lock.

I really dislike having to deal with UPS.

    From the Apmex site

What happens if I don't send in the precious metals after a price has been confirmed?

Your transaction may be cancelled if you do not call by the end of the following business day with the registered mail or tracking number. Additionally, you will be liable to cover any market loss we incurred by accepting the order to buy from you. This is covered in our “Market Loss Policy”. Furthermore, you will not be permitted to buy or sell to us in the future. If you call in with the registered mail or tracking number and we do not receive the items within 5 business days and the delay is due to the USPS, UPS or Federal Express, we will extend the deadline on a case by case basis.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
  • Locked in the day you make the deal and get the confirmation number.

I just received a popcorn holiday tin from APMEX too. I guess it may have been a watch if I spent a little bit more. image
