Josh McDaniels fired in Denver

Never believe an owner when they say they have no interest in making a coaching change, one day later and Josh McDaniels is out the door.

Comments

  • Actually, he said it a week earlier and then the next day said he would evaluate him at the end of the season, at that point
McDaniels probably figured he was finished in Denver.
  • He made some crazy...almost illogical moves in his time there. Like throwing away their quarterback, when the last game he played in was the Pro Bowl.

I agree. McDaniels, I think, made the atmosphere in Denver a bit chaotic. He was responsible for downgrading the most important position in the game and now Broncos fans get to see the Bears charge right into the playoffs riding Cutler's coattails. The Tebow draftpick in round 1 made NO sense whatsoever.

I found it weird that he traded both Cutler and Marshall.

How about trading Peyton Hillis for Brady Quinn? I mean, how is that working out? image

Keep in mind, Cutler *ASKED* for that trade. He got all pissy when other teams contacted the Broncos about a three-way deal that would have sent Matt Cassel to Denver. The Broncos turned down that trade and told Cutler he wasn't being traded. His response to that was to ASK for a trade.

How'd that work out for Denver? They got two first rounders, a third, and Kyle Orton in return. The same Kyle Orton who is on pace to set every team passing record for the Broncos this year.

You can knock McDaniels for lots of things but the Cutler trade is NOT one of them.

If all of this stuff was happening before the Broncos won two Superbowls back in 1998 and 1999 I would be in a deep depression.

However, since my team finally won the Superbowl in 1998 (and #2 in 1999) I have mellowed and do not get as riled up when the Broncos are lousy. Too much other stuff going on [wife, kids, work] to get in a funk over a psorts team.

That said, I sure hope that the Broncos find a coach who can get the team back on track. I am used to Denver being a contender for the AFC West Crown each year [well not since 2005] and participating in the playoffs. Sure would be nice to see them stomp on the Raiders regularly againimage

Unfortunately Denver has recently been stomped by the Silver & Black.
