Did i get a good deal??? Arod Auto Ball

Hey guys,

I Won this auction yesterday. Its a gift for Christmas. It looked pretty good & the price was right. I have a couple arod items & was looking to give this as a gift this year, Don't want to give something that isnt real. Buyer seemed OK as well. Any input is appreciated.

    Just my opinion...

I would have bought something certified...

his cards are relatively inexpensive right now... $50 + and you can get a certified card...

but then again, I dont collect auto'd balls...

  • Yeah,

I agree. Balls have a tendency to fade over time, The person that is getting this has a large yankees auto's ball collection woth no A-rod's. Hope he likes it image

  • I don't know... the R doesn't look loopy enough, the A looks forced and too defined, and the tail at the end of the name seems contrived, but I'm no expert. It could be from several years ago, signed in a hotel or strip club, which could result in a different type of signature than when he's sitting down to sign 1000 balls at a time. I like that it's in black ink. Forgers are more likely to use blue, and the black ink suggests it was the only pen available at the time it was signed.

For only $60 on a ball that usually sells for well over $200 certified, I hope you got a PSA/DNA quick opinion. If you haven't yet, I'd do that right now. If it comes back as likely genuine and you give it as a gift as planned, you could also offer to pay the authentication fee if the person you're giving it to wants to have it certified. They'll apply the $7.49 quick opinion fee towards the authentication fee if you send it in within 60 days. Good luck.
  • Thanks for the input, It was signed back in 2006 at a basketball classic for highschoolers sponosred by arod. Ill let JSA take a look also.

    THanks again
