Encroaching senility and gold

Does anyone recall the price the US Mint sold the 2009 St. Gaudens high relief gold 20 piece for when they were first offered for sale?

I was thinking it cost around $1100--$1125, but of course it's been more than 10 minutes ago and I can't remember image

I saw an unslabed one sell for over $1900 the other day. Glad I hung onto that one.

edited to add: I regret I didn't buy 2 like my wife suggested! image

Unslabbed one sold for that? Jeesh, I'm gonna sell a slabbed one for less.

The guy I sold mine to on ebay for $1749 sent it in to PCGS and got a FS PR70. I paid $1189 for it.

Did you sell him an unopened box? (30 day window for FS)

The odd thing is, that the non FS MS70's are selling for $700 - $1k less.

Another coin that has "slipped under the radar" is the 20th Anniversary Reverse Proof Gold Eagle. PCGS PR70 FS are also selling in the $3k range. I forgot what the 3 coin set originally sold for. ($2400?)

Tom's $1,189 was in response to the earlier question. The 3-coin Anniversary Set was priced at $2,610 and sold out in about 3 days. It has 1/11th the mintage compared to the 2009 High Relief Double Eagle.

    $2,610/3 oz. = $870/oz. of gold

At the time, it seemed like a stretch. Now, it seems like a pretty good deal, even tho the price for a 3-coin set has backed off like a new issue always does.
