I'm not familiar with sniping services... if you place a snipe and the seller modifies the auction before it ends...could you end up winning something different?
I believe you're bidding on whatever item is associated with a specific Ebay item number. If the auction is edited to reflect a different item than you thought you were bidding on, but the Ebay item number stays the same you might be screwed.

Does that happen a lot? If the item as a bid or is under a day, aren't you prevented from editing the item? You could wait to put in a snipe until that time has passed?
Many times I put in my snipe on the first or second day of a listing and then simply forget about it. I've never been burned by a edited item, but it is possible.

The whole description can be fully edited if there are no bids (Totally different picture/item/description) After bids are made information can only be added on.

Well, I'm not familiar with how sniping works, but I think the person places a snipe (not a bid) on an item, and with a few seconds left it automatically places a bid on the item? Is this right?
If so, let's say that you have an auction for five baseballs.
Person places snipe on auction.
Someone comes along and asks you to sell one out of the lot.
You sell, modify the picture and listing to four baseballs instead of five.
Your snipe come through and you have won four, not five baseballs.

I have done at least 1200 snipes....has not happened to me either.

Although the scenario you were describing probably does not happen that often. To answer your question, YES, it COULD happen, since you are in essence bidding on an item for the first time in a snipe and if there are no other bids before the item is edited, it definitely could happen. You could solve that by bidding the minimum bid on it and then setting snipe, since the seller could not edit the item once a bid is placed.
even if you win something, you dont have to pay.... >>
Yes, I just saw where ebay is making Tuesdays and Thursdays, free merchandise day on ebay...bid on anything ya want and it is all absolutely free. If it goes well, then ebay says they will consider extending the program to additional days.
