Rose. Dime question ! got weight and pics.

ok . Tonight my girl friend told me to go lay on her bed , She wanted to show me something . ...... LOL Well needless to say I was expecting to see something slitely different from what she showed me . When she came into her bedroom she had 2 hand full of coins and told me to go threw them . There was a coin in there she said didn't look rite and wanted to see if I picked it . I started looking at setting aside stuff like the 1984 Lincoln cent and found a Wis. state quarter to look at later . then about half though the coins I grabbed a 1992 Rose. Dime . Now call me crazy , stupid , or even say it cant be . BUT she had a 1992 dime and it looks to be stuck out of copper . NO lol I didnt weight it YET . And yes I will post pics. tomorrow . anyone herd of any simular ?

Im thinking the coin had lain out in the dirt for a number of years. When clad coins are buried...and then rediscoverd...they are a dark brown.

I agree with Ambro..... I have seen many that have been dug by metal detectorists that exhibit a copper color. On the other hand, if it is missing the clad layer, weighing it will provide the answer. Cheers, RickO

Yep...particularly in sandy soil near a beach...but it does occur in other soils as well. Cheers, RickO

It could be copper washed, copper sintered, struck off metal, missing clad layer, or it could be post-Mint damage.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

dog gave you the possible options. We need a photo to tell you which one, and the weight would be nice as well.
