too many people with mulitiple profiles for me

Due to a growing trend of people with multiple profiles trying to scam me, I will only be selling the item(s) for the stated price in the BST thread and I will need you to say "i'll take it" or "lock me in at that price" and at that time I will need your mailing address. I hope that you can understand this request. There's too many people with too many profiles here now ( you know who you are, and I do too with a little something called an IP address check) that want to try and work you by saying, "my friend said that you were going to give it to him at this price". Guess what, those people ruined the possibility of negotiating now. My asking prices are more than fair, so that's what I'll be selling at from now on unless you are one of the many valued and trusting repeat customers I've had more than pleasant transactions with in the last year that i've been here. I thought when I left eBay I left the people with dozens of profiles behind. Aparently not. Thanks for understanding.

EDITED to show a pm from a concerned CU member. I had a member send me this very interesting PM. This is it verbatim, the only thing I edited was their name at the end:

A clear and concise conclusion can be drawn that the people who have turned on you in this thread not only condone, but participate in the subject that you have brought to attention. In the beginning of the thread they pacified you and were being obviously sarcastic. It was quite funny how you played along when the sarcasm by them was so clear. Were you trying to expose them even more? You succeeded in doing so. Thank you for bringing this to the attention to those of us that take this forum and matters like this very seriously. I and the circle of people who I do transactions with on the bst forum have made note of the profiles that clearly condone this misuse of member privileges by their comments and actions on this thread and will be sure to spread their deceptive activites even further. Hopefully it will hit them in the pocket book and they will move on from here being that there is nothing a moderator could really do. They rely on us to report such activites, but in this case, I think even if you did so it would be passed off unfortunately. You may want to try if you have not yet though. Thanks again for exposing them.

I guess some want your gold and silver for free! I don't blame you at all. I think its easier anyway just to state your price if FIRM that way they either buy or don't buy makes it much better JMO (of course the dealers wont like it much)

I've done many BST transactions here and they all went smoothly. Anyone that gets screwed on a BST transaction should out the offender so other forum members can avoid a transaction with that individual.

Maybe scam isnt the right word, but they're "working" me by using multiple profiles to see what's my best price. One profile asks what's the breakdown for each item if they buy everything I have listed. Then they switch profiles, within minutes, and asks about an individual item. When I quote a higher price because they are only asking about 1 item, not all, they turn around and say, "my friend said that you were going to give it to him at this price". At first look, I thought maybe it is 2 friends working me but, it isnt hard to figure out due to it all happening within minutes, one person is just switching profiles, not to mention it's the same IP addy.
I wonder if people realize that checking IP addy's isnt that hard to do LOL. At least use another computer.

I dont like having to do this, but I feel I have to. I dont need the headache. Now if a returning customer wants to negotiate, none of this applies.

I've bought and sold over a million dollars on that bst and have never had a problem.

I find the multiple profiles interesting as heck however. How do you figure out an IP from a pm ??
  • piecesofmepiecesofme Posts: 6,669 ✭✭✭
both were via email, making it all the more obvious. I dont atcually know how to check it. When a friend of mine built this computer for me, he installed a program (i suppose) to check it and all I have to do is click on a button that will show me the sending IP addy.
I havent done quite a million dollars worth here like you or others, but i've done several hundred thousand and this is starting to happen more often...thats why I said it's a growing trend. Perhaps you're just not aware that you're most likely being worked by the multiples too?

If you get your ask price in the end, that's what matters. From my own experiences, most dealers aren't swayed by "offers" from nebulous parties. They've seen all the games and cons over the years.

Out the MP's...that's something that the forum really doesn't need.

I think that the average forum member who has been here for over a year with a high post count and who has made positive contributions here should be a safe choice for a BST transaction. No one wants to be exposed as being untrustworthy here because that would make it nearly impossible to find someone who will want to do a future transaction with.

Maybe you guys have the time to play games, I dont, thats all I'm saying. Thanks for the advice though.

btw, one has a post score in the 700's and has been here since Mar. '07, the other has a post score of 6 and has been here since Sept. '10. They are the same person, but i'm not going to out them. To me, that's unwarranted on what really is kind of a trivial thing, I admit that. But I thought bringing up the topic this way was needed, because it's happening more & more, at least with me it is. This is the 3rd one like this in that last 2 months. Had no problems before that though.
Those of you who say that almost all transactions here are very satisfactory are correct, I agree with that. I'm just saying this seems to be a trend that is starting to happen, maybe because of the run that the PM's have been on? Everyone's trying to get that "best deal" now.

If I wanted to work someone over for a price, I'll do it with my only name and it's either "go" or "no go".

If I ever offer multiple items for one price and get an offer for one item at a pro-rated price, I'll make that decision when the time comes, and I don't owe anybody an explanation for my decision.

Why not ask the guy directly why the games? If it's not a good answer, out him.

By them me asking for it.
I'm not going to out them for this. Outing in my opinion, is if someone defrauds you by taking your money or and item and you have aboslutely no recourse, not just because they're playing games. Please repsect my opinion as I do yours.
But as I said...again, I felt it needed to be brought up in this manner. Not everyone has to be outed for this kind of stuff. What is it with some of you? My goodness. Cant it just be discussed? Apparently not, please forgive me if this thread offends you in anyway by me not blurting out someones name when it really doesnt mean a whole lot.

Now, like clockwork, someone will say...well then why even bring it up? And my response would be the same...because I felt it needed to be brought up.

You really cant be serious, are you? Well, for starters, I ONLY HAVE 1 ID! Talk about missing the point. My God! Sure I try to get the best price in everything I buy, but it's done by using the ONE and only profile I have. How is that the same as what you are insinuating? LMAO!!!

You make negative comments on someone else's BST listings if you don't like their pricing.

You accused a respected member of stiffing you on a BST offer and provide no substantiation.

You complain that your machine gets viruses from this site, but nobody else has reported that problem.

You complain about someone using multiple IDs and provide no substantiation.

Then you disparage the whole place by stating that "so many are doing it" and provide no substantiation.

I'm not the one doing the insinuating.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Isn't it amazing that people still do business with me here when you all dont know the slightest thing about me never having done a deal with me? Maybe it's because when you DO a deal with me, you get treated very fairly with rock bottom pricing, prompt communications and service. So if I rant a little, so f'in what! Like you all dont?????????? I make up for it in the deals I offer and complete here. Done several hundreds of thousands of Dollars in transactions here in a relatively short time. I think that speaks for itself.
