Did Samspop get his cards back?

After derailing his first thread by pointing out how whinny and shady Craig is, I refrained from posting anything on his second thread. I looked for his second thread to see if he had gotten any good news and apparently it has gone poof.

Glad you admit that you derailed the thread.

Really shouldn't talk about people that way.

Makes me think you don't really care if Samspop, and others involved in that sub, got their cards back.

    Starting trouble.

    Contribute much?

    Yeah, didn't think so.

    Have a goodnight!

I take full blame for his first thread going off the rails. Once it got locked and he started a new thread, I PM'd him and told him that I would refrain from posting on his second thread out of respect.

I would really like to see him get his cards back.

The original group sub thread is up and being continued. Samspop tried to contact clayshooter22 and all that was left was a voicemail again.

Someone on the thread suggested to leave an irresistable message to clayshooter22 since he is involved in finance/investments. The advice was for Samspop to use a decoy friend ans call to inquire about what to do with a 401K plan when retiring soon. He should say he is interested in rolling over the 401K plan to an annuity or something. That will get attention from that office and someone will return the call.

I think you have now whined more than he has.

lol, you have whined about his whining more than his original whining.

Glad you admit that you derailed the thread.

Jesus Man give it a rest. Quit antagonizing the behavior with your replies and maybe we can start getting back to a board with useful exchanges of information. As it is now, every third thread seems to go POOF because of the back and forth like your trying to create with your reply.

I think that was the first time I have ever responded to Crimson.

I'm tired of HIS antagonizing behavior.

I'm also tired of his crying.

I've given useful information with my posts.

I don't think any of the recent threads went "poof" because of anything I said or instigated (not saying that I instigated anything).

And your statement is quite hypocritical, I mean, you're insinuation that I am doing all these bad things, but your declaration above encompasses all of those very same qualities.

Little surprised to hear it coming from you.

Why did Samspop second thread go poof?

  • His second thread went poof because it crossed the "too much information" line. Some members posted private information. It happens. I hope he gets his cards back.

And further to that, the simple fact that you refer to me as shady is an absolute joke. I'll let the good deeds I've done here stand on their own against your baseless accusations you little twerp.

Now go copulate yourself again, Joey.

  • Matt,

I don't think Patrick was trying to antagonize him. I think that Patrick was just calling him out because he, like you, are tired of people derailing others threads. I know I am. This stupid BS is really getting old. I remember I read the boards for over a year before I joined. At that time there was a wealth of knowledge and a little banter back and forth. Now its a lot of I'm going to **** on you in any thread you post in because people can't get along. Some people need a hug or a role model or something.

I think you missed something twiley. The part where Crimson derailed samspop's thread in order to take a shot at Gumby.

By the way, this isn't really a thread about Crimson's concern for samspop's cards. It's a thinly veiled means of taking a shot at Gumby.

I was just up there in Flemington this past week (Sunday-Thursday). I was painting for a guy near the bagel club/shop rite who is opening a pet store next to the Amish market and dollar store. I should have tried to meet up w/ you but I was on very limited time.

twiley - were you meaning to reply to someone else? I haven't the foggiest where Flemington is. No Amish around here either. Plenty of Mennonites, though.

Sorry my bad. Simple case of mistaken identity.
  • Going back to the original topic of Samspop's cards....maybe it was mentioned in one of the posts that went poof and I missed it, but were there others involved in the group submission, and did they get their cards back? Also samspop, what do you think the total value of your missing cards are? I have to admit I am curious about how this will play out...
  • samspopsamspop Posts: 1,992 ✭✭✭
There is no update to add. I did not get the cards back and I guess at this point, unless be some great bit of fate, I don't expect to. There was another board member involved. Not sure of the quantity, but I believe they were all John Smoltz oversize and/or jumbo cards and I think there were 9 that he had. Here are the cards I submitted to clayshooter22 and the grades they received.:

17387481 I685000015 1998 TOPPS SUPER CHROME 30 MARK McGWIRE REFRACTOR 7 Cert Printed
    17387482 H946000004 1998 FINEST JUMBOS 1 MARK McGWIRE 10 Cert Printed
    17387483 1438000015 1997 BOWMAN'S BEST JUMBOS 45 MARK McGWIRE ATOMIC REFRACTOR 10 Cert Printed
17387484 1277000004 1998 TOPPS GALLERY GALLERY OF HEROES GH7 MARK McGWIRE JUMBO 9 Cert Printed
17387485 A662002410 1964-DATE HALL OF FAME YELLOW PLAQUE POSTCARD HOYT WILHELM 10 Cert Printed

The "value" cards are the 1997 Bowmans Best Jumbo Atomic Refractor of which only 60 were produced. I don't suspect I will find this card in Gem Mint 10 quality (took several years to find the card and I have had this one for a couple of years prior to submitting. The other would be the HOF Wilhelm Postcard. All of these cards were for my Master Sets and the Wilhelm was the highest graded by a couple of grades and was a SGC 98 crackout. My be easier to find, but most that are out there are autographed. This one is not and therefore got a straight grade.

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you see these cards on eBay or anywhere else. I have them listed in My Registry so I should get notification is someone tries to add them to their sets, but we'll see. In addition, around $40 was sent to the submitter to cover fees and shipping.

I believe that Gumbo misinterpeted my meaning of the word shady. He assumed that I was inferring to the meaning akin to some who rode the short bus to morals school. But I was not. I was referring shady as an Oak or Elm tree, The shadow he cast creates a great big shaded area.

I assume the shyster now knows the difference and will apologize in due time.

Samspop, this is a shame...maybe there is a perfectly logical excuse but the further out you get the less likely that is. And I am sorry that various members keep hijacking your posts about this topic to continue their petty feuds.

Agreed. The thread hijackers are on about the same level as clayshooter22 himself. All I am trying to do is get the word out about the situation, keep you guys updated, ask for you guys to keep an eye out for them, and hopefully, maybe get my cards and/or money back.

The fact that every thread I or anyone else has posted about gets completely deflected from the reason for posting to begin with. It is frustrating and shows that these guys are at best, childish.

Please go start your own threads and bicker all you want, but leave me out of it please, and if possible, please refrain from posting on these threads.

    Mike,

It's not for nothing, but CrimsonTider did start this thread and the extremely transparent reason for the original post was to bash me with a thinly veiled inquiry about the status of your situation.

I don't disagree with your sentiment, though. I, too, wish his sack would drop so he could look back on this and realize how childish he is.

A major part of the problem is that someone puts a stupid - or veiled - comment about someone else, then that person retaliates, and all their friends get involved. Before you know it the original post goes poof and we are denied an interesting read. Heres an idea - if someone insults you in a post, chuckle to yourself, think what an a$$ the person is and then go on to the next post. I consider myself a confrontational guy (retired army officer and retired police officer) and even I feel no need to defend myself to knuckleheads on a message board. If I take grief for this message you will not see a response from me.
