Liquidating some gold....

Wondering where the best place would be? Say 40k worth. What's the best way to keep the IRS from getting involved? And I'd like to sell this year since it will avoid the whole reporting of profits for tax purposes. These are all common date Sants, Roosters, foreign 20 Francs from various countries, 20 Lira, and Maples.

If you want the most $$$$ for your stuff..eBay, but make sure it's done prior to 12/31/10..( New reporting requirements to the IRS take hold on 1/1/11).....If you don't mind selling near spot, the BST may be an option, but your protection against fraud is limited.

eBay gives you more audience and maybe an higher ending price but you have to take their fees into consideration and the time to create the auctions.
I haven't sold anything there in the last few months. Our BST is quicker and more fun.

Let me know wherever you put them! image

BST if you have prices in mind. If you want to fish for highest prices, take an ebay gamble.

Yes...but the over $20k annual or 200 sales per year, being reported to the IRS takes hold next year.

You can't avoid the reporting of profits legally. You can beat the reporting requirement by selling before 2012, but you are required to report the profits on your annual return regardless.
