I guess not leaving feedback is on the rise at least for me?

On the last 400 items I have sold, 182 buyers decided not to leave feedback basically 45% of my sales of the 55% that did leave feedback 2 left neutrals (both newbies) and 1 of those dinged my stars.

This is a dramatic increase at least for me for people not leaving feedback as in the past I averaged around 83 to 84% left feedback and all of those were positive feedback.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a decrease like this in feedback? my thoughts people are getting fed up with ebay's automatic computer generated notices for payment and then the notices for them to leave feedback. it seems ebay is doing their best to tick off/ p*ss off our customers one way or the other and hoping are DSR ratings drop, so they can avoid the 20% discount on FVF or maybe I am just being paranoid.

Any thoughts? image

I sell A LOT of books on Half.com and my inventory is uploaded to eBay. Most sales are from students with less than 10 feedback so I RARELY get feedback even though I leave it for every sale.

I used to insert a little message asking the person to leave feedback or contact me if there are any problems before leaving a neutral/negative. I'm probably going to go back to this very soon because, looking back, it seemed like it helped.

  • I am only an occasional seller, but I ran some sportscard auctions that ended about four weeks ago. The hammer prices ranged from $15-$150. There were 12 different buyers, and 10 of them left feedback. So 83% from that group- right at your 'usual' range before the decrease.

I have no idea, as long as I get the money and they file no claims or email me whining about something
I'm happy. If they leave feedback it's a plus.

The feedback system on ebay is a game and not worth anything, other than some small crumbs ebay may throw at you. Some newer ebayers consider a neutral and 4 stars a "positive", so you are basically better off without feedback. Dont play the FB game, ignore it and let what happens happen

Since 1998 when I started on eBay I have left 2765 feedback (I always leave feedback) and received 2222 in return.

    That is 80 %

Currently have 28 auctions with no feedback left since 10/16. 52 received.

    35 % not received.

Agree. It has been a long time since I've looked through my feedback -- I just check to see if there is a neutral/neg image

  • less than half, sounds about right, given the current stranglehold they have on Sellers, all the buyers have the juice.

Spent $4.70 for shipping on 2 items and received envelope with 2 --.44 cent-- stamps on it yetserday. I won't be leaving feedback for this individual.

No feedback is good feedback. Ding his stars.

Recently I purchased two graded cards (separate listings from same seller) at auction and dinged the stars for one, and the other gave five stars. Did I agree to the price ahead of time? Yes. Did the seller provide a service reasonable to what I agreed to pay? No.

Indeed. So unfortunately for a newbie seller, the best way to get feedback is to buy.
  • I agree No feedback at all is good especially if they are going to leave anything but 5 stars & positive FB.

it seems 50 to 60% is the norm nowadays for people leaving feedback.

I mainly sell and once paid I automatically leave feedback, makes no sense not to as all a seller can do is leave positive FB.

overall I have left 5,167 feedbacks and received 4,304 feedbacks for a 83.2 % or 5 out 6 leave feedback overall.

just thought it was weird that all of sudden last 400 sales the rate drops to 50 to 55% or 1 out 2 leaving feedback.

for the old sellers/established sellers this is no big deal but for the new sellers this could cause a headache with paypal holding their funds until they reach a 100 rating or receive positive feedback or can prove the item was delivered.

I just wonder if ebays automated invoices and feedback reminders tick off customers ? or the buyers don't realize then can leave positive feedback without having to do the star rating crap.

that is crazy and stupid on the sellers part and deserves no feedback at all or a positive/neutral feedback and dinged stars. hopefully your 2 items were not damaged?

everything I ship gets wrapped in bubble wrap or cardboard or both and then put in a bubble mailer or a box with DC and sometimes insurance depending on the value.
