Besides that I don't really like the way the date (ie 6), scroll, reverse lettering and other details look. Might not be real: (2nd T in states, L in dollar). Maybe I'm just too paranoid? But in comparing that 6 to the logotype in the WB book, it doesn't seem to align the bottom loop to the top "open" area. They aren't symmetrical. The 6 just looks crude to me. Is it damaged by a hit such that metal moved? Or is it just distortion in the photo transfer process? Also, the 2nd 1 in the date looks more delicate than the first one.

Agreed and I suppose that paying too much is all relative...
I just wanted to quickly buy a non-Confederate half dollar issue (w/reasonable details; at least VF30) to compare to confederate issues (attributions) from the New Orleans mint for that year. Aesthetics were secondary in this one case.
All of the feedback so far is greatly appreciated!

The contrast in the images may be a bit too high lending to some of the roughness?
I don't have in hand yet... will need to photograph myself.
