I have not read any of the wrestling threads. Apparently I am missing something.

Maybe I will have time this weekend.

Excellent point. It's reassuring to know that all the Deep Intellects on the CU boards are more interested in the beauty on the inside.

Anyone that chases DPeck away this time will earn my wrath.
  • Actually, Rollins is a pretty well-known private college here in central Florida... go Tars!

I am not going any where. After the wrestling thread and the BS I put up with, the losers lost their chance.

If a 26 year card collector is not welcome on these boards; too bad I am not leaving.

Sorry I turned this thread into a trainwreck. I don't have anything against DPeck or the Wrestling cards, I just think your posts come off as trying to "inflate" the market for those cards. I actually like them and will eventually pick some up once the prices come back down.

A Curt Henning sold for $26 tonight. It may not sell there all the time but it is not going back to $3.

These are not coming down to the levels everyone wants. I continue to be amazed what raw singles will bring.

Does your wife share your passion for wrestling cards?

Also, looks like your Rollins diploma was for Cum Laude, not Magna Cum Laude. Just curious. Surely a smart guy like you knows the differenece between Summa, Magna, and Cum.

It says Cum Laude, was not trying to overstate, got like a 3.4, think you need a 3.5 or higher for that I think, does not matter to me, my job your GPA means nothing

No she has no interest in the cards

As for real, everyone would love real but if they have a natural A that won't work for me.

Fair enough. You like the fast cars, big melons, and wrestling cards. A cups won't do for you. I mean, who the hell can blame you?

Seriously, though, everyone's gonna get on your a$$ when you say you graduated magna cum laude from Rollins when you only went cum laude. Pretty much 90% of the dogs in here went cum laude or better.

This is not a smart contest.

As a stockbroker/financial advisor your grades really don't make you more money. Anyone who reads my posts know I can't spell. My skills are in macro economics and putting it into motion with the financial markets.

Quite frankly I don't spend an ounce of time even thinking about college. I am glad I went and it helped me tremendously in life.

No, but it might be able to provide a tummy tuck, a$$ lift, and a bro to hold up Nick Saban's man boobies.

    You're welcome.

The economy is in the toilet and will likely get MUCH
    worse before it gets better.

EBAY is a crowded place, but LOTS of folks still make
    money there.

Fashion merch is still good. Used-clothing is prolly the
best spot, but you gotta get the stuff free/cheap and
    price it for poor folks.

That tells me that LOTS of card-sellers are NOT in need of

I don't know about my sales...but i do know my healthcare this upcoming year just went from a $20 co-pay to a $1,500 deductible. I'm just giddy about that!!!
  • Wild numbers. I thought 10% auctions was a big statement. I think now, one can pretty much officially declare auctions dead. (In some or most collectibles).

Don't sweat that-- Newt Gingrich has told me that the market will eventually reach an equilibrium on medical care services, so I'm sure this is just a temporary spike in price. All we need to do is wait for the market to adjust. Stay strong, brother!

this is fantastic for those of us that auction vintage sets and some relatively high end stuff. It becomes a bidding war for a rarity at auction when a good seller with great feedback on high dollar stuff lists with a no reserve auction.

A lot of people hitting the BIN or b/o on pre war stuff. New crap I am selling at 99 cents free shipping. After paypal, ebay, and postage I am losing $$ on that stuff

Someone like Levi doesnt need the money. He's pretty rich. He will probably leave most of his cards to his kids.

As someone stated earlier buyers are becoming less and less. I think a huge reason for this is because its not much fun looking at huge rows of BIN's that people cant afford or dont want to pay. Ebay was a fun place to be as a buyer 3-4 years ago.

It's also no fun to start a $200 card for 99 cents, no reserve auction and see it sell for a whopping $35. Then the winning buyer turns around immediately, before he even receives the card, copies your scan, and lists it on EBay for $250 BIN. I think that might be some of what is adding to the glut of overpriced BIN's........
  • chaz43chaz43 Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭
Things are changing. Dealers are tired of getting nailed on good vintage cards and are going to BIN. If guys think they can steal a good PSA card with a feebay auction, those cards are drying up.You want a low pop PSA 8 from the 50's or early 60's to add to your set, you are going to have to pay for it (BIN) or wait a long time for one to come up. chaz
