<< <i>I don't see how manning is ahead of brady and i hate the pats. Manning might have better all time numbers but his post season record is average at best. He had 1 major post season win imo. The afc championship game the year they made the super bowl was really only his big win. Yeah he won the super bowl but that bears team was one of the worst super bowl teams of all time. Brady on the other hand has the greatest single season by any qb plus 3 super bowl wins. One of the wins was against the greatest show on turf who were 14 point favorites. Payton should thank his little bro and tyree. If it wasn't for that catch there wouldn't even be a debate who was better. >>
even if dungy cheated it wouldnt stop manning from choking and throwing a pick on the the last drive of the game. I'm an eagle fan and last week i was positive manning was going to blow the last drive and sure enough he did just like he did in the sb. Just like how mccnab did for years with the eagles. they put up great numbers in meaningless games and then blow close post season games. I'd much rather have big ben than manning to win me one game. There is no way manning woould have conducted the drive the steelers needed to beat arizona.

I agree that Roethlisberger was great in that last drive against ARZ. In his first Super Bowl win he was more of a liability than anything else. I also do not think the Pats "cheating" had anything to do with their accomplishments, and it takes nothing away from what Brady accomplished. All that being said the Quarterback is given way to much blame/praise for winning or not winning championships. Manning had the worst running game in the AFC and made it to the Super Bowl last year. He was unbelievable in the first half (as a Saints fan I thought there was no way we were going to win that game). He got beat by an onside kick, and a great play and break on the ball by a defender while Reggie Wayne stood flat footed. Also people always talks about the great receivers that Manning has had. I think he has made everyone of those receivers what they are including Wayne and Harrison. Do you think Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie would be anything if they were not in Indy? Also did you notice the numbers that Stokely put up in Indy compared to every other stop he has had along the way? For some reason you do not like Manning, and that is your choice and you are entitled to your opinion. Manning conducted a couple of great drives to beat the Patriots if I remember correctly, one in the AFC title game the year they won the Super Bowl, and one last year after Brady and company got stopped on 4th down. I type all of this to say your argument about Manning is not founded on logic but dislike of either him or the attention he gets from the media.
<< <i>manning in the top 10? wheres brady? he should be ahead of him imo >>
IMO I would put Manning ahead of Brady because he has won more MVP's which is more of an individual award whereas winning the super bowl is a team effort. These rating are for indivuals. If you were rating teams then the Patriots would be ahead of the Colts. I think overall Manning and Brady are very close. I also feel they are the front runners for the MVP this year. Still have a lot of football to play to determine who will get the MVP this year. Manning and Brady still have several years to play and when their careers are complete both will be farther up the list from where they are now.
i'm not saying manning isn't a great qb. He is. I just can't put him in the top 10 players of all time given his poor post season record. Ive only seen players in the 80s-now so i can't speak about unitas, bradshaw, staubach ect.. Of the QBs that i have seen i think Montana and Brady are 1 and 2. Elway 3 and then Manning at 4. If favre retired about 6 years ago i could prob put him at 5 but his picks to end 2 nfc championship games leave a pretty bad impression. Aikman is similar to bradshaw in my opinion. Very good qb and several rings but i don't remember Aikman ever taking over a game like the other 5 i have mentioned. Marino was great but never won anything. I'm not saying it was his fault. He never had a good rb or even great wrs. Clayton and duper were good but not great. IF he ever got a terrel davis he might be much higher. Kelly, brees and Roethlisberger round out my top 10. As an eagle fan ive gotta throw in cunningham as honorable mention.
The List was generally ok through the first 25. Michael Irvin should not be a 100 Player. Roosevelt Brown is one of the 2 or 3 greatest guards in NFL history and is not the Top 100, Larry Wilson. Ozzie Newsome in the 100 Top and Thurman Thomas and Jim Kelly are not. As good as Newsome, Thurman was the 1991 MVP and was a more complete back than Sanders. Bruce Smith is about 20 slots too low. Gale Sayers in the 100 Tops over Thurman Thomas are they freaking kidding. Sayers did not even have a complete career, by the NFL Network's Standard Tony Boselli, Terrell Davis, and Sterling Sharpe should be in the Top 100. The Sporting News' Greastest list in 1998 was a little better. Brett Favre should probably be in the Top 10, if not Top 5. He is every bit the player Unitas is. Steve Largent is a better Receiver than Michael Irvin and should have been on the List.
Larry Wilson was a beast! He was an assassin! Listen to how NFL players of the 60's talk about Larry Wilson. He played on some lame Cardinals teams. But the man could cover, and he could HIT! You can't fault him for the fact that he played on teams that were not up to Packers/Colts standards. A strong case could be made that Larry Wilson is among the top 2-3 safeties in history. Definitely top 100.

Roaf should be on the list instead of Ogden. It looked like Chicago and Baltimore people stuff the ballot box a lot of Colts, Ravens, and Bears that are overrated like Gale Sayers. Emmitt Smith ahead of Barry Sanders, I don't think so. Sayers is the Bill Walton of Football. Michael Irvin instead of Largent, that is nuts. Elway is a little too low. Peyton Manning is the best player in the NFL right now and should be higher than he is. Ray Lewis is too high on the list
Sorry to bump this but I just watched about 30 of the profiles on YouTube. Anyone have any favorites? I thought that John Hannah and Ronnie Lott's were especially well done, but I have to say that (crazy enough) O.J. Simpson's was the best. I thought Chuck Klosterman did a great job of putting it in perspective while still being able to talk about his football career. You could easily make a case based on that profile that had his life not taken such a downturn, people may have voted him a LOT higher on this list. More like mid-teens instead of #40.
I agree Lott's was great. I also liked Payton, Butkus, Campbell, bednarik, ditka. I liked Alan page when they said he helped build the HOF. I didn't know that.
OJ was the best running back I have ever seen. Period. I never saw Jim Brown. But his 1973 season was just amazing. The best season anyone has ever had. Unless his 1975 season was better. He rushed for 2003 yards in 14 games in 1973. He did it with the team having NO passing game and a rookie quarterback. Teams were loading up on OJ on every play and he just kept on running. 143 yards per game. For a five year span OJ averaged 110 yards per game while not missing a single game. Put into today's 16 game schedule, OJ would have rushed for 1760 yards per season for a five year stretch. For you fantasy football fans, how would you like to have OJ's 1975 season in your lineup? 160.2 yards from scrimmage per game and 23 touchdowns in 14 games. That equates to roughly 26 points per game for the season. Yes, he was amazing. Just a shame his life turned out so wrong, because when he was on the field, he was so right.

But did Manning's coach CHEAT to get his SB wins?
Nope
1(untarnished)>3(cheating)
