It seems like I'm getting this once a week anymore!!!

Evening,

Rude Buyers!!!

Latest: Today!

Buyer: Order still not received. I have had no communication from you.Has this been shipped yet?

$37.50 Item bought from Store on Sept. 16th, paid Sept. 17th, Packaged on Sat. 18th, don't remember if I got to Post Office last Sat (Probably), or if everthing went out on Mon. So at best with today, its been 5 busness day, worse 6. Going to Canada!!

Wow

My answer!!

Good Day,
I am sorry, I am confused, what communication would you want? I shipped within 1-2 Business days of recieving payment. I marked the item as shipped in E-Bay. What else could I do for you? Please let me know and I will attempt to deliver that. It has been about 5-6 business days to Canada. If you get stuff quicker than that please let me know how you do it.
Thanks
Neil N. Duty

I of course, on a $37 dollar iitem, rolled the dice and just sent, too expensive to do anything else. If this guy claims he didn't get it ever and I refund, the sad thing is I am close to being done with shipping to Canada and this will be the proverbial nail in the Coffin!!

Just stop shipping to Canada, it's not worth it unless you know the person or the $30 trackable shipping is worth it.

I'm calling BS. No way this story is true. Everyone knows if the story was true, the original email from the buyer would have read:

"Order still not received, eh? I have had no communication from you eh? Has this been shipped yet, eh?"

Neil does need to work on his communication skills. I set a snipe on one of his items two days ago and still no email confirmation thanking me for my interest.

  • wow. you know its funny, I'm from Canada and in the last month i have three buyers from the US within a week from paying for their item going nuts in e-mails to me wondering where their item was. I just thought it was because of the cheap 7-11 beer that they were guzzling down. Plus all of my non-payers were from the US, with the reasoning i didn't (couldn't) read your auction. Hummm makes ya think

Registered Mail is an "extra service;" NOT, for our purposes,
    a "class" of mailing.

For EBAY/PP transactions, Registered Mail to Canada is a redundant
service that will almost GUARANTEE buyer complaints and NEGs.
Worse, its SLOW nature will cause INR-claims that are hard to unwind
EVEN after the item is FINALLY delivered.

Express Mail International is the ONLY bulletproof mailing solution in an
EBAY/PP transaction that requires BOTH "timely and confirmed delivery."

The "extra service" of Registered Mail is designed to keep items safe
while in transit. It is NOT designed to prevent dishonest "buyers" from
making fraudulent INR-claims; nor to prevent panic induced INR-claims
    by psychotic buyers.

Sellers save NO MONEY by using the "extra service" of Registered Mail
with FC/PMI parcels to Canada. EMI is the correct solution in Canada
    shipments.

    ...........................

Canada sales are SIMPLY NOT worth the trouble - ALL caused by
    EBAY/PP polices.

I would LOVE to ship cheap items to Canada. I did it for MANY
years; until "buyers" figured out that they could get "free stuff"
    with the help of PayPal.

I still ship stuff to some KNOWN Canadians who are BOTH honest and
patient, and pay with International MOs. Priority Mail with insurance
works fine for such buyers. If an item is lost, the INS covers it. If an
item is delayed in Customs, the buyers simply WAIT for delivery.

Leave it to EBAY and PayPal to take the "world wide" out of the WWW.

Lots of good info there. Looks like EMI is the only safe method for canadian shipments.
  • Couldn't disagree more with my fellow members about transactions with Canadiens. Of the thousand or so transactions with Canadiens both buying and selling hockey cards I've never encountered any problems except 1 late item.

Maybe it's the baseball, basketball and football fans that are the problems..... not Canadiens.

Whether playing hockey in Canada, diving in the caribbean or living here in Florida(with a ton of Canadiens) I can truly say I've yet to meet a Canadien that's a bigger Douche then some of the members here.

    Mike,

Thanks for standing up for us Canucks. Really, it isn't that hard to ship to Canada from the US and vice-versa. USPS and a customs form for low $$ items is just about the same price (and same amount of seller risk) to Canada as within the states.

    Relax.

I like Canadians; all those that I know are fine folks.

The challenge presented is not about "Canadians are
    bad, Americans are good."

The challenge is that while I can easily "protect" myself
against most bad Americans in a PayPal transaction, I
cannot do the same with regard to bad Canadians.

If I shipped from Canada, I would feel the same way
about my inability to protect myself against bad EBAYers
    in the USA.

EBAY/PayPal policies are simply not conducive to productive
trade across international borders. That is not the fault of
    either Americans or Canadians.

The minimum cost of a PayPal-bulletproof method to deliver goods
to Canada from the USA is about $30.

The minimum cost of a PayPal bulletproof method to deliver goods
    from USA-to-USA addy is a few first-class stamps and a 20/80-cent
    Delivery Confirmation ticket.

    BIG difference.

Guys like Steve at the bbce and many other good sellers would never consider charging $30 for a card. After thousands of transactions they seem to run at 100% positive feedback. How do they do it you ask? Other than being straight up good honest sellers, I have no idea.

I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly do. I would not even consider sending something I sold on EBay without DC. If the item sold for a penny, still DC.
As far as a sale or trade with a CU board member, I take that on a case-by-case basis (although I still almost always use DC- just for my own piece of mind).

I would never sell a $10 item on eBay unless it were a prearranged thing or for publicity, but, yes, I put DC on everything. For .19 cents via online shipping lables, I don't see why a seller wouldn't.

    edited to add:

Not just protection from a buyer, but I like knowing where my goods are in the process.

After I print lables, I have my mail delivery person scan them as accepted or take them to the PO down the road for the same. Buying insurance on a package online is no good if the dumbazz postal service never scans the package as accepted and then it gets lost in transit.

    Ya know Nightcrawler,

I don't understand what your problem is in this thread, I always thought we got along. As I stated " IF " this deal goes South it will be the third time in three weeks I've had to refund some clown who I know recieved their item but is playing the E-Bay Paypal system to get it for Free. And yes it would have to make me rethink sending to Canada...............And as Storm said, this has nothing to do with Canadians but simply due to the fact there is no economical way to protect myself from these types of nitwits to Canada. Economically I can do it with scamming Americans for the most part.

And just for clarification, all three recently (After years of thousands of no problem transactions), started with this type of Rude E-Mail!!!)

And as for your crack: "Anyone getting crap once a week should consider where the real problem lies"

Sorry to hear about the problem Neil.....as some of the others I have also stopped shipping to Canada, it just wasn't worth the hassle. al.
  • Well I am dealing with one now in which the Postal Service didn't scan the DC, and they opened a claim BEFORE they contacted me.

    I get this message:

"This item has not been received! I see there is tracking information but it is not available. Sounds like a Postal problem!"

Guess I am going to eat the cost, since the postal service can't scan the item even once in the process... (note I even use Paypal Shipping to generate the label!)

OK, I'll play along. How about providing an auction link and the buyer ID?

Anyone that needs to come running here to start a thread about Canadian buyers because someone asked a question. Well, you do the math. Like I said, other sellers do thousands of trouble free deals accross the border, no problem.

And guess what everyone, you're never protected at ebay no matter who you're selling to or how you ship it.

Seriously, I'd like to have a good look at this troubled buyer.

  • Trent,
Wow you just don't get it do you. The fact that this deal was even with a Canadian was thrown in as an afterthought. The thread was about Rude Buyers period and the fact that lately they seem to preface their Scams with a Rude E-Mail.
Do you have some sort of complex or do you just need to go back and re-read the Thread?

And no, I'm not going to play Your game.....I'm done with this!
