Right back at you, Saberman. I enjoyed the give-and-take and look forward to reading more from you in the future.

  • Thanks buddy.

    Enjoy the playoffs.

One thing you never mentioned in Ichiro's defense....is his ability to play CF!!

I've talked about this with Rod Carew and Pete Rose in the past and how they were moved out of 2B even though they showed to be capable of playing it.

A center fielder with Ichiro's hitting/running is a very nice asset. His organization chooses to have him play RF more...possibly they are making an error in that thinking??????

Are you sure about that five minutes!?
  • If you are interested in looking at the situational stats and such, BaseballReference now has Win Probability for each player. This takes each at bat in the context of the game situation. Check it out.

Well, it originally started that way because the Mariners had Mike Cameron, one of the best defensive CFs of the last 20 years, playing CF. So they put Ichiro in RF to take advantage of his incredible arm. They won 116 games that year, it worked out OK image Since then, Ichiro has played some CF but has stated a preference for RF so the M's leave him there.
