Coins in the original mint packaging might become harder to find. I've seen a lot of multiple holders for commemorative coins go out in the trash. Even some of the wooden boxes have been used for firewood.

To anyone not numismatically inclined, they might just be shiny state quarters. Pre-1965 silver coins are much more easily recognized.

Oh the carnige....too many mutulated silver proofs sets....my eyes are burning.

I have a couple hundred silver proof sets, mostly year 2000 that I am into for $31.95 each. I just can't force myself to kill the sets...................yet.

I think thats more common every day with silver on the rise.
Get out wile the getting is good. If enough of you keep doing

Barndog, I keep wondering why you bought these instead of regular 90%? I don't disagree with doing what you did, but I'm just wondering about your own rationale for the proofs.

I have been doing the same thing, busting up hundreds of sets taking advantage of the high silver price.

I have even busted hundreds of 1961-1964 Proof sets!!
