The Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America are two completely different organizations which have little in common except that part of the name which is "of America".
The GSA does not allow boys and their programs are aimed soley at girls whereas the BSA allows girls into the Venturing Program where leadership and adventure programs are the primariy curriculum. Anybody that does not understand that simple fact is ignorant of the principles behind both organizations.
I'm kinda glad their isn't a male on the GSA Commem since I guess a whole new type of discussion would then ensue.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
It's been four and a half years. Have these coins matured into a modern-day 1909-S V.D.B. cent? Or are they languishing in shoe boxes forgotten in the attic with Junior's Coin-Collecting Badge and a dog-eared copy of the Cub Scout Wolf Handbook?
I'd imagine these are popular with most in the Scouts organization. Also certain Priests, Teachers, Coaches, Sunday School Teachers, Bus Drivers, and assorted other friends of youth.

Commemoratives are collected in series. How many modern commemorative albums are "up to date " ? Or registry sets, for that matter ? Not mine, but I do have a leg up on the hobby with a partial Dansco Album full. If not for going into the business I likely would have kept up with these and the gold spouse series. Because the modern commems will be a beautiful set , one day. In it's entirety , of course. As a series, I am not complaining. People who collect will see , some day. But it won't likely be OUR generation.
I have a PCGS registry set of proof and unc modern commem silver dollars in MS/PR69. They are both about 7 coins short of being complete. Both sets are missing the latest date coins. I wait to buy certified coins several years after the mint issues them. By that time the prices have usually dropped below issue price. I have been working on this set slow and steady since 1996. I feel sorry for anyone trying to complete these sets from scratch. The coins are not rare and easy to obtain. But the shear volume of coins is immense and gets bigger and bigger every year. I believe both sets have nearly 150 silver dollars in them...if my memory serves me correct.
Go Fivecents! Nice someone has a bit of a delayed gratification thing going on, although if you had waited for a couple of the Oly 95-96 issues that would have been a bit expensive (wheelchair and high jump in unc.). I just skip almost all of them although I did sucker for a couple of the baseball glove bits....

Well, I was proud to wear mine to school every week back in the 60's. Sad thing is boys are no longer allowed to wear them to school nor can't they was recruitments at school. Frankly, I believe it would do a lot of boys good to go through the program but I am bias being the father of two very well rounded Eagle Scouts who are doing very well with their lives.
Now, back too the subject, I found my box of 10 each (PR & UNC) on a high shelf in the garage recently while cleaning it out after the divorce was final! I guess no one stole them. LOL!!!

How many collector/investors are still sitting on massive
accumulations of these coins? In 100 years will they be
the next Saddle Ridge hoard?
BTW...I was one of those who did buy a bunch but I will only get one or two of the silver Baseball coins and that will do it for me....
