Buffalo Bills Quest for #1 Draft Choice Official Thread

I realize this may end up being the shortest thread on record.

But I am a lifelong fan, and couldn't help myself.

The original title was "Buffalo Bills Quest for the Superbowl Official Thread", but then my Dewars wore off.

I don't think I want to see them finish .500, because they'd miss the playoffs (likely), and then draft in the middle of the pack. I'd rather see them win less than 5 or more than 9. image

    Bills 10, Dolphins 15.

    Record 0-1.

Right on track for a .500 season.

Come on Bills fans (both of you), where's that support?

Hey, just reviewed the game stats.

A smooth 166 yards total offense - and star rookie running back C.J. Spiller gained 6 yards on 7 carries: very impressive!

Way to go Bills! Can't wait for next week!

Maybe they can coax Flutie out of retirement..

  • Thanks for the warm-up guys !!! See ya in a few weeks.
Any team on any given Sunday, can beat any other team...unless they were playing the Miami Dolphins in 1972.

Half of which was on one series.

If I went to the game I would demand a refund. Edwards looked terrible.

Well, I was trying to at least be slightly realistic...Flutie isn't too far removed from being active, after all..

Bring back OJ! Is he out of jail yet? We can't be picky at this point.

What a backfield, CJ and OJ!

  • I've been a Bills fan since the very beginning and remain one today but what I've seen so far with the Gailey hire as head coach, the lack of an NFL quality quarterback, the Bill’s pre-season performance and their opening game against the Dolphins indicates to me that this may well be the worst team assembled since Buster put his original 11 on the gridiron in 1960.

I remember the 1968 season. That one was brutal.

I remember that 1968 season too. I think they won only one game that year.

Hard to imagine this year's team is worse than that.

    Well, not that hard.

  • At the rate they're going and if prospects don't make an abrupt turn around, I can see a lone win only from Jacksonville with Cleveland a possible second but doubtful victory for a 1-15 season.....I do hope I'm wrong!

    Bills 7 Packers 34

    Record: 0-2

OK Bills fans, a little bump in the road, nothing more! Long way to go. Take heart, we have the same record as the Vikings and Cowboys!

A sensational game overall for the Bills, here are some highlights: we amassed a total fo 186 yards total offense, easily besting last week's total of 166.

Star rookie running back and first round draft choice CJ Spiller carried once for 3 yards - a fine performance!

29:04 time of possession - a known key to victory in the future.

But punter Moorman was the star of the day, 5 nice kicks for a 46.4 average - do I hear game ball?

Can hardly wait to see what treats next week brings! Go Bills!

Now, after watching the Jets beat the Patriots maybe take that "w" away, Detroit has been playing decent, Chicago beat Dallas, KC has playwed well, and thus I think you could be down to two "winnable" games. I am a Ram's fan and I have to imagine the Bill's and the Ram's will be battling for the #1 pick in next year's draft.
  • Well let's see....now we're moving from Sanford to Harvard for our next quarterback and we're winging our way to Boston Logan for the Pats in Foxboro next week...don't get be wrong, I LOVE MY BILLS but this just ain't our year. Maybe there's a win at Jacksonville in week five.

If the Bills get the no. 1 pick they'll probably pick a running back.

Oh yes, those two college QB factories. We're all set now.

OK, we are 0-4, with a dreadful, visually painful home loss to the New York Jets.

The team looks demoralized, and in house finger pointing has begun.

We will be underdogs in every remaining game this season.

Our coach of the year adheres to the philosophy that an NFL-caliber quarterback is optional.

Our star rookie running back gained less than 10 yards rushing once again.

Our defense is surrendering over 30 points per game recently.

    Toronto beckons.

I ask you, are we, or are we not, front-runners for the #1 draft choice this year?

    Go Bills!

The problems start w/ the owner, GM, and those in charge of personnel. IMO their roster isn't very good (a few exceptions of course) and wouldn't be much to work w/ even for some of the better coaches. Gailey was a solid coach w/ Cowboys but he at least had some talent on the roster.

Super Bowl XXVIII: Buffalo Bills vs Dallas Cowboys -
Running back Emmitt Smith rushed for 132 yards and 2
touchdowns earning Super Bowl MVP honors as the Cowboys
defeated the Bills 30-13 to win their second consecutive NFL
    title.
  • Trying to lock that pick it in early.

That was weird. Didn't think seattle would be the destination though.

Yeah, Seattle came out of the blue. The irony of this trade is that Lynch will start and Forsett backs him up (just like when they were college teammates at Cal) and they now play for Pete Carroll who was at their archrival school.

Green Bay really missed the boat on this one. Not sure why they didn't pull the trigger if the asking price was only a 4th rounder and a conditional pick.

  • Not since '60 have I seen anything the likes of what they're putting on the field this year. Will the Bills make it unscathed to the #1 pick or will Carolina or San Francisco ruin it for them?
