What do you all think of this coin?

I am thinking of buying one of these 2 ounce gold coins. Would I have trouble selling it in the future? THANKS!Rabbit coin

You shouldn't have any trouble selling it in the future as a bullion coin for melt value.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

I don't know for sure, but Aussie Silver Bullion is easy to sell and quite popular. I'd expect Aussie Gold to be similar.

If you like it you should buy it. Far as selling it in the future, you won't have any problem although you may get different offer prices from different buyers. Just like anything else, although what Perry said is pretty much right on.

Looks like about a 9% premium. Kinda high, but probably not for a nice Aussie gold piece. It'll probably hold the premium and it might actually increase.

  • 9% + high shipping and handling cost! I will think on it a bit. I wish AMPEX didnt charge so much on the former!

You may get it cheaper on the secondary market---unless gold goes up in value.

I like it, looks nice and I am sure you could sell it on ebay with no problem later on. However I like smaller gold much better though

If you -- or a loved one -- was born on the 'year of the rabbit'... it looks ok to me. I guess I'm saying that the chinese year premium might be important to those follow that.

I would consider pamp 1oz/2oz and spend the difference on something else. For that price you might be able to find a brick of 2.5 gram fortuna's

We usually sell 5-8 of the 2 oz. gold lunars every year, and 2-3 of the 10 oz.

No worry about being able to sell them back later.

Man I like the Aussie gold. I paid the extra for a 1/10th kangaroo just 'cause I wanted it. Now I'm wanting to put together a continent set.

Could the premium be less, yes. Check at a show for that, might find it closer to spot. But it's about the same as any of the European gold...worth it to me, especially if you only want 1 or 2 pieces. And I think it's an easy sale in the future.

Apmex says on the same page they will buy it

Not surprising. APMEX is in the precious metals business after all and this coin is two ounces of gold.

What's the other stuff supposed to be on the coin next to the rabbit? Is that supposed to be vegetables? Feathers?
