You're right. Since a 9 year old card of a future HOFer sells for $1300 now, it'll lose all value when he's inducted. I feel bad for the sucker that bought those cards for $300 each.
I'm not sure anyone bought it. Ebay has weird wording on when things end. It doesn't say BUY it Now or # of bids or anything. I know a card that ended without being sold and it had the same format.

When a BIN ends with a buyer, it'll say "Sold For:" in front of the price. This listing has "Sold For" in front of the price, so it ended due to an offer being accepted, or the BIN being hit.

It was just proven that is does not sell for $1300 now, wasn't it?

Or the seller didn't know what he/she could get for it. It sold 12 minutes after being listed....12. I would assume the market for the card didn't crash, but rather a seller sold very low.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
I think that happens more than we know. A seller takes a card into a dealer to sell and gets quoted a price. They then list the card on ebay for a few bucks more hoping to make more of a profit. The seller is happy because he thinks he got top dollar and the buyer is very happy. It's a win-win situation.
The same seller also sold the card in BGS 8.5 for $430 (just 1 card, not 2). That $430 was an accepted best offer. Seems like the seller knows what he has, and just made a price mistake on the 2 card auction.
A buy it now of $600 on 2 BGS 9's, and a BIN that had to be greater than $430 on a single BGS 8.5; just doesn't add up.

If you look at the feedback of the seller, he deals with coins, so it is likely he doesnt know the history of the card, just that some had sold for more than he probably paid for them. My guess is he probably saw some old auctions/price guides, whatever and paid or traded coins to a guy for a few hundred and thought that $599 was a good enough turnaround. Now, the buyer at $599 may know a little more
It's a great purchase at $300 each. However, any key card in the 2000's are autographed rookie cards. His Ultimate Auto sells for roughly $2K, his SPx AU for $ 1K+. The Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor is a parallel card numbered to /99x2....198 total. $1300 is steep, $500 about fair. So $300 each is a sweet deal.
Nice flip. You're dealing with mostly vintage guys on this board so most of them don't realize there is a ton of money to be made on modern RCs for savvy buyers, mainly because the cards aren't all that condition sensitive and pretty easy to get into PSA 10 slabs for a quick flip.
Also, when dealing in modern I've found that often BGS 8.5 = PSA 10.

As a vintage guy I've seen dealer friends make a ton on modern. The key is to flip them quickly. You don't want to be holding these cards 10 years after they retire. I'm glad I followed their advice and sold my PSA 9 (OC) McGwire RC for $300 at the height of the market.

I'd think the fourth-best rookie card of the best slap-hitter since Wade Boggs would've brought at least a grand

Why does it say at the top "Listing Ended" ? Usually it says Listing ended with buy it now. Plus no bids if not a buy it now.
Yeah you're right. I did a little looking on EBAY.

I feel like there are a number of people here who will still think the card is cool enough to spend $50 on in 10 years. I probably would.

Good point, I did not look too deeply into the auction/BIN.
Still, I'd like to know more than what the last one sold for.

These got cracked out their BGS cases, sent to PSA and were the 10s I posted about when I got my voucher poppage
After I purchased the two cards for $600, I got ripped off when I sold them in their PSA 10 cases because they only sold for around.....
wait for it..............
$7,000

Am I the only one here who started hearing that "UPDATE" music from Unsolved Mysteries when reading CNotes post?
I even read the post in Robert Stack's voice...out loud. My coworkers are a bit confused.
