Options for silver collection display

This question is geared towards the collectors instead of the stackers. I'm looking for options to display/store my small but growing silver collection. I would like for it to be able to handle pieces as "large" as 5 ounce bars down to small fractionals.

I know some companies make various coin boxes with different sized trays. Does anyone have anything that works well and would be willing to share some images?

They sell a Dansco for the one oz bars. But other than a few oz I keep mine in the bank, in a safe, or buried out back in mason jars. I would never display them to anyone. Well except via a picture on these boards. Take pics and store them away

Well you could buy a nice cherry wood cabinet and put your bars in there and find creative ways of placement, lighting, etc to display your collection.

Airtite albums are not the nicest way but they are practical, protect your coins/bars and let you see both faces.
I like trays like my dad does but I don't have enough space for them.

edited to add: if you find a way to display your 5oz bars, please let me know!
I keep mine in saflip flips 2.5x2.5.
Also,a nice way for the fractional bars is to put them in flips and then in a coin album. You can see both faces and it look nice with the clear background.

A "hard case cd/dvd storage" might adapt to your needs. Some have 3 ring binders built-in, slots, drawers, etc. Just about any size you can think of. Key or combo locks... metal, plastic case... plexi tops... you name it.

Consider putting in a desiccant or two if you use one.

There is the jewelry box/trunk options:

    Sears jewlery box/trunks

    Or something really different:

    This might work

oops I misread your question. Air Tites come in all sorts of sizes and don't look bad at all.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do keep most of the silver stash at the bank and do keep the collectible bars and rounds in Air Tites. When I said "display" I actually meant only for my own use. No one knows what I collect and this would not be displayed for others. Right now I have Air Tites and flips sliding all over a large plastic container and would like to have them organized for when I want to enjoy the collection while watching some football on the tube.

The hard case cd/dvd storage cases might be an option.
  • Casey;

Perhaps this company will have something that'll work for you.
  • Used wood silverware boxes are a decent option. After all, the boxes were designed for long term storage of silver. I like to rip out the innards and re-line with new felt. You could even add some wood dividers if desired. If a person finds them at a garage sale or thrift store, they tend to be inexpensive.

There is the downside that some thieves will look for silverware boxes and take them if they see them.

I,m considering taking a few Monarch 10 oz hand poured ingots and take up juggling. They should display nicely as they fly thru the living room windowsimage
  • This may not address your issue but I prefer Dansco albums to hold a part of my collection. I also use a few airtites for some of my silver collection.

  • on the Sept Buy/Sell thread there is a Coke Album Smitty posted that had a collectiion of silver bars in it.......looks like a cool way to have them all organized and fairly easy to pull out and look through.

I have a few old type set drawers where I display some of my collection. Work great for 5 gram -10 oz pieces
