It's perfectly ok to bring your own IMO. It's good to get used to your own loupe.

I asked them to weigh it out for me, looked at my cheat sheet and then used
the caliper to verify diameter and thickness.
I got a rather strange look, but it was my first time buying gold.
That was at Dallas Silver and Gold exchange back in 98.
they should try to make you feel comfortable.
