Coin loupes at a b&m

Is this a good practice or should it be avoided. I'd think it's ok but what say you

    Are you referring to bringing your own loupes? If so, that's perfectly fine.

    I think it's common practice to bring your own loupe to a B&M.

    With the crap lighting found in most B&Ms, I think having a loupe is necessary to help detect any slight imperfections you can't see in the light.

    I usually end up forgetting mine; most of my stops are spur of the moment. But I allways take it to the shows though.

    Im assuming that you are talking about something high mag to cherrypick. I dont see a thing wrong with cherrypicking a dealer for varieties. Just be leery the dealer that let's you do the work for him and then quotes a new price for your lovely finds! This has been discussed on previous threads.

    It's perfectly ok to bring your own IMO. It's good to get used to your own loupe.

    I remember when I bought my first 1/4 AGE.
    I took a loupe and a digital caliper.
    I asked them to weigh it out for me, looked at my cheat sheet and then used
    the caliper to verify diameter and thickness.

    I got a rather strange look, but it was my first time buying gold.
    That was at Dallas Silver and Gold exchange back in 98.

    I bring two loupes and a three in one light that has a white light a black light and a green laser. I have brought to many coins home and saw something on them I did not see at the shop so now I don't leave home with them.
    Give the laziest man the toughest job and he will find the easiest way to get it done.
