95-W Silver Eagle

Hi all,

Can anybody shed any light on the price movement of the 95-W ASE? Specifically, was it at that price soon after issue...did it spike up and correct to its current value...

Any info can help!

Thanks in advance

  • They seem to have lost value since I bought mine a while back. The good news though is I got the 10th anniversary set and the price of gold now certainly makes up for the drop.

    Wow!
What can I say except if they only knew then what folks know today! But, I guess relatively speaking, not much has changed. I do remember when these were offered and $999 just would not get past the wife!

At any rate, I could be wrong but I think these started peeking around 2002 when folks started to realize there were only 30,000 of these floating around and the Proof Registries required the coins. Prices have come down considerable over the past 3 or 4 years as more and more of these got graded. A little over 2,000 are slabbed with a solitary piece in PR62DCAM. Given the fact that there's a 62 should tell you something about the quality of the coins. Prices are between $2K and $3.2K with the PR70DCAM ruling the roost at $30K
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I could have bought one for $600 but I thought that $600 was outrageous for a modern coin with a mintage of 30,000. I still dont get it?

I still have one of the 2 sets I bought from the mint.
  • A friend of mine just bought a PR69DC for $2700 and was glad to find it under 3k. I'll have to pass!

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.
  • I wanted one from the time I heard about it and could have bought one for arounf $550 but figured it would go down in price again.

Edited to add: Also a friend kept telling me that the $550 was too much. Then he told me $650 was too much. Then $750 was too much and I listened to him.

    Oh Well,
    Ron
