Gold toned IKE dollars...are these common??

Looked at an album of IKEs and several of the later years had a nice full surface rich golden tone.

Is this common?? Desireable??

Since I haven't purchased album yet I can't provide pictures............

Not unusual. Seems like the 1977's from mint sets are probably seen golden more often than other dates.

Yes, it is rather common for ikes to tone gold.

I have found it on all of the clad coinage in mint sets quite often from the seventies and also into the eighties.

The silver Centennial Sets do not get the gold tone... of course, they have silver content. Cheers, RickO
