Do collections of silver coins in towns with paper mills ......

Do they have accellerated tarnshing??

  • They have pretty much cleaned that industry up, the days of choking when you drove by are over. In the 70's I knew people who worked in a paper mill and I don't remember them as having toned coins, of course those were the days of dipping also.

It is still the 'days of dipping'. And to answer the original question, I grew up in a town with a large paper mill, and no, there was no significant toning. Cheers, RickO

    Unknown but probably not.

Now, Yellowstone National Park Rangers might have some stunning collections! image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

Depends on whether the collector lives down-wind from the paper mill or not.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

I worked as a telephone lineman and the steel strand we ran to hold the telephone cables definately suffered greater degradation in the mill towns.

Areas with high sulfur water commonly have accelerated tarnishing of silver. Much of West Virginia, for example.
