2010 Plat. proofs have sold out.

Expensive bullion coin. Took only 7 days to sell the max 10,000. I think, unless you end up with a PCGS 70 F/S, you're not going to break even for a while....to many coins & not enough Plat collectors.

well, actually, most of these probably went to the precious metal IRA's since they are the only precious metal proof coin eligible to be included and produced thus far this year.

so, in retrospect, the minority of the sales probably went to collectors (especially one's waiting till the last minute to purchase and get it for a cheaper price)

i predict about a $2500 price tag in 70, anything else at least a 2000-2100 price tag.

Usually 30 days after the first know delivery is in hand by a buyer. These may all end up qualifying for FS, if they are submitted prior to the middle of September to PCGS

The Mint sold out all they brought to ANA. And the dealers flipped them immediately.. not a bad deal...

Precious metals IRAs are not limited to proof coins. Bullion non-proof eagles can also be held in an IRA.

    IRS rules on IRA contributions

    US Code 408

    US Code 31, Section 5112

So far they don't appear to be a winner ... sales recorded of the non slabbed coin varied from a low of $1924 to a high of $2099. Not much of a profit margin after fees. Graded NGC & PCGS are just now hitting the block, but it's to early to get a read. This PCGS just listed at $.99 should give us a early idea. there must be something buried in the code somewhere, because the premiums are only HUGE on PROOF American Eagle - Platinum / Gold / Silver

the premiums are not and have not sky-rocketed on non proof bullion coins

Proof eagle prices have been driven up by speculators who are under the impression that only proof coins can go in bullion IRA, and who also believe proof coins would be exempt from any future confiscation.

You're correct ... I should have read his write-up ... coins being graded with a FS label.

    That just happened today:

In 2009, the United States Mint introduced a new six-year platinum coin program. This new series explores the core concepts of American democracy by highlighting the Preamble to the United States Constitution. This program will examine the six (6) principles of the Preamble as follows:

    1. 2009--To Form a More Perfect Union, SOLD OUT
    2. 2010--To Establish Justice, SOLD OUT
    3. 2011--To Insure Domestic Tranquility,

there may be some speculators, but the majority of the quantity is going to major market makers, those that supply many of the precious metal ira's....

the price action you are seeing is not speculation. it has a purpose. possibly because you can ask a much higher premium on a proof silver/gold/platinum coin than for a regular bullion issue.
