Where have all the nicely toned Mercury Dimes gone?

After selling off an amazing example about 4 years ago it seems like I rarely see nicely toned Merc dimes except for the occasional Proof example....so are these slowly being acquired and hoarded in collections....? If you can find one on Ebay they are usually asking like 10 to 20 times bid for really common date and grade coins with so so toning. It's getting to be about as hard to find the Rainbow Mercs as it is nice colorful walkers....which can be quite the challenge.
So if you know where a secret stash is....how about letting me in on the secret
I did run across this coin yesterday on NEN...and of course I pounced on it like a fat guy grabbing a big mac and mickey D's
What can I say....it looks really colorful and the price was right!!!
1945-S PCGS MS65 (So close to FB I might send it back in) lol

If you have any toned Mercs....MS or PR...please post them hear so that I can see what I am missing out on ...........

As for the piece you posted, unless I'm missing something, the center band doesn't look split in the slightest...
<< <i>Ricko's been dipping them one by one.

<< <i>Shane the example you posted looks like wayte raymond album toning. I dig it!
I agree...can't wait to see it in hand and see how the luster is...looks like the NEN photo is just a color shot which is fine....but if it's got booming luster then the coins going to be more visually spectacular for me

Nah! He/she hired a seller on eBay to take them for him.
For the OP; I bought a complete set of Merc. dimes several years ago before I joined CU.
The seller's FB was 100% and you could trust eBay sellers at that time.
That was before I joined CU.
When I got the package and opened it, I almost popped my cork.
Nearly every dime had a gold tint on the obv. They were in one of the first see both sides albums.
Before I emailed him about the "problem", I took a good look at some of them.
Their condition ranged from a mid VF to one (1936-D) that I think will go at MS66 or 67.
Needless to say, I kept them. Toned or not, they were better than the ones I had.
No. They're not for sale.
Good luck.

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.
I have them. Be nice and I'll show you the best color short set (1941-45) in existence. I like more than just roosies.

Since I'm "photo challenged," you have to see them at FUN.
