Is this a 1921 Standing Liberty Quarter?

So I was checking today some of the quarters I bought a short while back on Ebay. A lot of 40 SLQs and noticed today that one of them had what looked like a faint #1 at the end of the date. I am hoping someone can tell if it is indeed a 1921 SLQ, possible grade and is it even worth sending to get graded

By the way i only paid like $120 for the roll of quarters

It appears that the last digit is a "1".

Now by my power of deduction that would make this a 1921 SLQ image

Congrats...yet I could still be wrong!

Is it even worth sending to get graded and what grade does it look like it could get. Its funny because I bought the roll and never bothered to check the dates. Guess Ebay is still producing some good finds

No doubt about it, the last digit is a 1, it's a 21.

Wow this is just awesome....its like finding a treasure. Its just funny that i didnt bother to look closely before.

Any opinions on the possible grade? Either way I think im going to pack it up and send it away

Technically I'd say VG details but the poor date and the significant scratch in the reverse field under UNUM will likely get it in a Gen-only holder. And yes, it's a 1921.

    No... the coin's a 1921 ... the 1931's date would
have been incused into the base.

Great find! What are the odds finding a '21 in a random ebay lot?

Well it was a roll of Standing Liberty Quarters and it wouldve been very hard to tell from pictures. I guess the chances are very slim but it is safe to say that there truly are some unsearched lots out there either because people dont check closely or simply they dont have the time to check due to the sheer sales volume

Interesting... as difficult as it is to see the date, is likely why it was overlooked. Cheers, RickO

Better pictures. The scratch on the reverse worries me and i think it will not grade because of it. It is much less noticeable on hand though so i dont know if that will make a difference or noit

Why is there a seam running along the edge?

I think it is just the way the picture was taken. There is certainly no seam when you look at it on hand

It's a '21 for sure. I just checked mine to be sure and I'm sure.
I have one in this condition I got from circulation over 50 years ago.
At least I think I still have it somewhere in this house.

I wouldn't have it certified myself. IMO, it just wouldn't be worth the cost.
    Congratulations on your find.

If you take a VG Standing liberty quarter and tilt it sideways like in the shot you get the same look.
    Congrats on the 21

Definitely a 1921 standing liberty quarter! Major congrats! Buying from this seller and his alternate usernames has been an absolute goldmine for me lately, there is no doubt some amazing stuff hidden in those "junk" lots.

Another one who is buying from him...Ive come across many of his auctions containing key dates. But finding this to me was just amazing since I wrote off all the coins in the roll I bought as common dates or worn off quarters.

Im hoping to send it to get graded but im worried the scratch in the reverse keeps it from grading.

I think it will grade. The scratch look old and inline with the amount of handling the coin has seen.

    Good luck!

I still have not sent it in to get graded but I will be submitting it to NGC. Im just waiting for my ANA submission priviledges to kick in. I think the costs to get it certified are affordable and worth the try

Well I dont have a paid subscription to PCGS and if your an ANA member you get submission priviledges for free to NGC. I may have to renew my subscription to PCGS if i want to send it in, matter of fact Im leaning more towards PCGS which means i need to renew my subscription.

Well guys i finally decided to send out the quarter for grading and the grades came back...I was actually surprised it did grade because it looked to have a scratch in the back but here are the grades:

    PCGS Coin #: 5740
    Date, mintmark: 1921
    Denomination: 25C
Country: The United States of America
    Grade: G04
    Mintage: 1,916,000
    PCGS Price GuideSM Value: $190

Not bad I considering picked it out of a roll of which i paid $130 or so

That scratch is light, old, and worn down. No reason it shouldn't have graded.
