    Wow! Very nice!

    Looks like sandy soil on his fingers in the first picture, which would help.
    Some dirt in parts of the letters and date as well, in places where you'd expect.

    Coin is certainly in great shape without discoloration or other distractions. Lucky!
    Sometimes they are like that, even old ones. No reason to say "no way" based on those pictures.

    The coin certainly does not look dug to me. However, maybe his soil is different than it is around me. I certainly wouldn't call a man a liar for finding something nice.
