produced in 1985 by the Madison Mint, from the Presidential Cameo Set series. Not rare, can be had for under $30.00

Not these, they didn't come out until 1985

You probably deep sixed the ones issued by the Hamilton Mint that came out 10 years prior

What do the back of these bars look like?

They are at the store and I am home but I believe they are plain with a small triangle stamping with 3 letters in it.......lower left...?

Edited to add......and a small round Pres. Seal...

    I kinda like those.

Sounds like you have the Madison Mint Presidential Cameo bars with Type A reverse. The book doesnt say the year they were minted but my guess would be 1985. No mintage noted either

Can I ask what may be a stupid question. Why do people melt bars into other bars? They want to make one big bar or mint it with their own marks? I thought the whole buy bars with markings was to ensure that you could trace who made the bar and its value that way?
