2010 ASE with milkspots

So I was curious and watched a couple of auctions for PCGS MS70 First Strike 2010 ASE's and am kinda confused. A coin with milk spots went for $66 and the previous day one without spots (a perfect MS70 FS PCGS) went for $77 which seems to be the going price.

I thought milk spots were like a cancer to those coins and killed the value....I don't consider an $11 difference that big of a deal since, in my experience with milk spots, they continue to develop like weeds

Generally, milk spots do kill the value. Perhaps the buyer was not aware of this, or possibly thinks they can be removed. Cheers, RickO

The description in the linked auction mentions the milkspots (kudos to the seller), but the picture really doesn't show them (they could be small and hard to see at certain angles), so the buyer may not be paying attention to the desc, or may be thinking they aren't that bad (not realizing they could grow).

  • I wouldn't pay $25 for a spotted Silver Eagle, let alone $66. The bidder, even though the seller appears to have done everything in his power other than say "smart coin collectors would never buy this coin for more than silver price" still must have made a bidding mistake by not reading the whole title/description. Heck of a detailed description.

I think ebayers know what they are buying. When I sold my 1999 NGC PF 70 Silver Set a few years back, I even pointed out that the Delaware had some possible problems developing. Even had photos indicating the problem areas. Didn't matter, the set sold for $5200.
