Silver Art Bar splurge!

MeltdownMeltdown Posts: 8,789 ✭✭✭✭✭
I hit a shop earlier this morning up in North Portland. They have a large selection (probably 100) different art bar ingots.
I've feel like I have pretty much picked over most of the rare or interesting (to me) items.
But I hadn't been there for about 6 months and I thought I'd go see what else I could find.
Here's what i came home with... none of them are particularly rare but they are fairly scarce.
These 4 phase ingots are made by Liberty Mint.

Las Vegas - Golden Nugget made by US Silver Corp (I think)

This one is cool from Monex.
It says it's a "$10 Trade Eagle" "Monex guarantees to repurchase this ingot for no less than $10 US dollars until Jan. 1988"

I've only seen a couple of these in the round style. - USVI Argent Ingot Co.

I have been meaning to buy an album for some of the nicer bars.

I still have the books. Need me to look up something?

Great looking bars ... BTW what edition of Kidd's book do you have?

The downtown Las Vegas art bar is interesting... one is the placement of the Pioneer Club icon (cowboy), the second is the 'Fremont Coin' -- I can't remember it ever being located there...

You might want to contact Mr. Phil Carlino (Fremont Coin) he made some art bars of his own but I can't remember seeing that one... I bet he'd know... I just checked his web address... seems like its down. I hope everything is ok with him...

He had 10 oz Nevada running horses bars that I still wished I picked one up from him -- premium was like $1.00+ above J&M's -- I digress.

  • I hope to go silver art bar splurging at a coin show later this month. I can't wait for this coin show later this month.

Actually the Phase #1, Phase #2, Phase # 3, and Phase # 4 silver art bars were minted by the Justice Mint in 1973 according to the 4th edition of the Archie Kidd price guide called "An Indexed Guide Book of Silver Art bars. image It should say Justice Mint on the reverse side of the bar along with the "law scales" symbol in the middle of the reverse side of the bar.

Most of the Mother-Lode minted '70's silver art bars appear to have fairly large mintages since I tend to see a lot of them on ebay and locally as well.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a '70's silver art bar expert but I try my best to play one on the Internet.
