Platinum Question- How do you sell 5 raw Ounces

I was visiting with a friend of mine and he showed me 3 blobs of metal that was melted. He told me that in the 1950's he used a cutting torch to melt up a bunch of platinum wire. It also contains 5 % Rhodium which I explained was more valuable than platinum. There are three melted blobs of metal weighing 5 Oz's.
Does anyone know how he can sell this. I am thinking that it could be tested and verified. I promised him that I would look into it for him.
Any help would be appreciated.

    Do a Google search on "platinum refinery" there seem to be a bunch of them.

    It'll have to be sent out to the refiner before you get paid.

    Call our shop and talk to Brian. He may be able to give you the skinny on what you're dealing with.

    Most refiners, like ours, have an electronic tester that can give a good estimate of the contents before testing. However. it will still have to get fire assayed before settlement.
