Found something interesting tonight

As a result of a recent bookcase mishap, I needed to clean out some old auction catalogs. One I kept, in case I ever develop a taste for California fractional gold, is the Bowers & Merena 2003 Jay Roe collection auction. I was flipping through it and found a VideoHerald™ DVD of Ron Guth describing and discussing about 100 lots from the collection. Granted, 2003 is hardly "way back when" unless you're looking at technology, but is this still done today by anyone for Excessively Important Collections?

<< <i>John - that's interesting, but the "bookcase mishap" sounds like it would be even more interesting
Bowers did it for a lot of auctions in 2003, and Heritage did them for a while.
Long story short, adjustable pins holding up top shelf gave out and pancaked on the second shelf, which suffered the same fate. The third shelf appears to be dadoed and glued or otherwise securely built-in, and bore the load just fine (and is the current home for the remaining catalogs). I finally redrilled the holes and lightened the load a bit. Auction catalogs weigh in at about 4 pounds per inch.
