This may have been struck on-site by a hydraulic press (it has the look.)
For many years the East Detroit Coin Club in Michigan had a member who struck the club's medals on a hydraulic press. Some coins were used as planchets.
My guess is that the company is part of the old Convair Division of General Dynamics. Convair was previosuly known as Consolidated Vultee Aircraft when it was acquired by General Dynamics. Convair's products included the PBY Catalinia, B-24 bomber, B-36 10 engine (4 jets and 6 props) cold war bomber, Atlas missile, plus the commerical Convair airliners, and more. Astronautics may have been part of GD before the Convair acquisition, of that I am not sure.

Looks like a Bashlow restrike over a Peace dollar.
Yep, it sure is. Pretty neat piece.
Is it for certain that this was struck by Bashlow? Could this have been struck by Empire Coin Company, Elder, or other previous owners of the Dickeson dies?

The "S" on the lower left of the reverse is only present on the Bashlow strikes.

I hadn't given much thought to the strike method. It's obviously weak. If anyone could make it themselves, surely General Dynamics Astronautics could.

Should have looked for that. Thanks!
