Treasure hunters had an episode when an ol' timer detectorist was pulling gold nuggets out of an dry river bed. Real or staged? It still got my heart racing.
I live in Phoenix and it's just to dang hot. Morning lows are now in the low 90s, and this week it's supposed to hit 115 degrees. When I visit this forum, the seasons are reversed - you guys curse the snow, which is the middle of my detecting season.
There's several outfits in Prescott (90 miles N of PHX) that have gold prospecting businesses. It's 20 degrees cooler and looks kinda cool to do.
Arizona! It calls to me, too. I'd love to be out there right now, in the bush, blazing my own trail, searching for gold in regions almost inpenetrable.
"I'll split the atom! I am the fifth dimension! I am the eighth wonder of the world!" -Gef the talking mongoose.
Yep.. a dry heat that will dry out the unprepared in a matter of hours. The AZ desert is nothing to be scoffed at... there are indeed nuggets to be found. However, one must understand and prepare for the heat or disaster will result. I lived there for eight years and the amount of people 'lost' or perished in the hot desert is amazing. Last I heard there are some 'treasure hunters' lost right now. Cheers, RickO

I've never gone, but always wanted to.
