I've only casually stopped at his tables a few times, but he was always very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to go the full distance to provide information necessary and requested.
An absolutely perfect choice! I "heard" about his winning this honor a while ago and was extremely delighted with the ANA's choice. I can't think of a more deserving person - he spends a lot of time giving back to the coin hobby, is extremely thorough in his research, and is quick to offer advice or help to the novice collector as well. I am looking forward to the awards banquet honoring Rick.
You Suck! Awarded 6/2008- 1901-O Micro O Morgan, 8/2008- 1878 VAM-123 Morgan, 9/2022 1888-O VAM-1B3 H8 Morgan | Senior Regional Representative- ANACS Coin Grading. Posted opinions on coins are my own, and are not an official ANACS opinion.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Congrats to Rick! He's a valuable forum contributor, and has been very personable the couple of times I have stopped at his table.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
WTG Rick! What an awesome honor...................MJ
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Excellent choice - a specialist with great generalist interests committed to sharing and encouraging others. He's made a strong positive impression on numismatics. Congratulations, Rick! zap
I have read some of your work and I am happy to see you win! I know that in the coin community I am no one of note and in the dealer community even less, so my personal tidings mean nothing much on their own, but throw them on the pile! Congratulations!!!

Rick, congratulations for all the effort, time and contributions you have made and continue to make. I was fortunate to attend the YN auction, a fund raising activity for Summer Seminar Scholarships as I understand it.
Just an example of Rick giving back, donating books to the auction, bidding and then giving the lot back to a YN as a donation. No doubt you are one of the good guys. And thanks for sharing some very cool examples this morning at the Counterfeit detection class this morning. I have to say there were a couple that would have given me trouble. Maybe not so now with your generous time and sharing.
To see your contributions first hand here in Co. Springs just further attests to the great decision the ANA made. Congratulations Rick!
Congratulations Rick !! ANA could not have picked a more deserving person to receive their award !! I will always remember the excellent presentation that you and Chris Pilliod gave concerning the origin and history of the Wisconsin Extra Leaf Quarters back in August, 2007 at the ANA show in Milwaukee. I made the trip from Texas to Wisconsin just to participate in your quarter presentation. Rick, you do everything with thought and helpfulness. Congratulations, Mark Smith.
Congratulations, Rick! I meant every word that I said in that foreword! TD
