Tuesday's Tips - If you see a place to detect - GO!

Ok ok, I know what you're thinking, "Thanks Mr. Obvious."
But, what I mean is, if you see an opportunity, take it. Don't wait a few months until baseball season is over, or for that Registered package to arrive via USPS. That opportunity may not be there tomorrow. Go get permission to hunt, or if it's public land that permits detecting, go!
Just this past Sunday I was in town detecting and I spotted an area that was dug out for a new parking lot. After a half hour I had a merc and two wheats (shown in my June 20th thread). Today (two days later), the lot's been filled in with dirt, so no more detecting there.
Also last year I detected an old dirt sidewalk path in town. Found two Indian Head Cents right on the path! A month or so later, big machinery took over a foot of dirt from there, lowering the path. A quick scan after revealed nothing!
Last year I got permission to detect around a pond at a local hotel and found a wonderful sterling silver buckle. About 3 months later it was torn down, pond removed... to make way for a McDonalds!
Just something to think about. Now get out there and detect!
