Alarming PSA Problem

So I get my order back today from PSA and inside the box I get my normal packing slip with all my information - credit card info, exp date, full address.

With my packing slip I also receive another members slip with all their information - I now have another members full information... very scary that PSA could make this kind of mistake - I really don't understand why PSA feels the need to included a copy of the sub sheet with all our information.

I do plan on mailing the sub sheet on to the correct owner – so they can contact PSA if they feel the need.

So you have no problems with PSA shipping out our credit card information to other members... I guess if the thread is not about some bashing someone else or someone’s ebay shipping rates no one really cares.

I think it's good to let the person know you received a copy of their information, and I would also contact PSA so they know the mistake was made. Maybe they can be more careful in the future, knowing that this happened.

sounds like a clerical error that should never have happened...

good question as to why PSA sends this info back to the original owner to begin with...

if the package is lost or stolen, then this information falls into the wrong hands...

if it was a regular occurrence, sure, it's a problem.

But it seems to have been an honest error, and one that is fairly uncommon.

  • Is the full cc # listed? They should only list the last 4 digits, if they list the full # then it is not ok.

It is a copy of the sub form submitted with the order. Includes all info including full CC #, name and address.

Just so we know what you're talking about, go ahead and post a scan of the sheet. (KIDDING!) lol

I'm just saying you should contact PSA so they're aware that it happens sometimes, and maybe they can tweak their process to try to avoid this from happening again.

You would think that in today's age of identity theft that PSA would understand their liability and shred all forms with Personal Identification Information, PII. There have been HUGE fines for other companies that do not protect PII. Banks and brokerage houses would/could get five or six figure fines for such an offense.

    .....just say'n.

A random clerical error "alarming" - that to me doesn't meet any definition of alarming. What about a few times a year I receive in the mail someone else's credit card or bank statement in my mailbox from the mailperson misdelivering it...I just put it back in the mailbox with outgoing mail - no bigee.

Sounds like a simple mistake. Happens to everybody and all businesses. Not alarming to me. As I told a disgrunteled (and rather annoying) client last week after I made a typo in his document, "darn it, my days of being perfect streak is over... at one day."

As others have stated, it is no longer permissible to store full customers credit card numbers, unless they are encrypted. You are only allowed to show the last 4 numbers on any hard copies. PSA needs to comply with this legislation or risk the big fines that are possible. I guess it's semi-alarming? No one's bashing anyone, I see it as trying to be helpful.

It's a mistake albeit a bad mistake that could be a big problem for someone down the road. Hopefully it does not happen on a regular basis, then I would be alarmed.
