Searched a box of cents...

Last week I got a $25 box of circulated cents and over the last few days searched them. The main impression is that pennies are getting more RB and dirty than other boxes I've been through the years. The 2009 count...pretty slim with only three found. No log cabins, one each of the others. Odd thing is I'm only 45 miles from the Philly mint but two were D mint. On the wheat front, 14 were found with the oldest a vg 1919 S with some green verdigris. Then two 39 and 1 each 41 45 49 53 53D and the rest 56 to 58. A real surprise was seeing a RB wheat reverse ... Turned out to be a nice 56 which went into the Whitman. Also a very pristine 1960 D small date easy a MS64RD. I found a MS 1983 in a very odd color more like a brassy gold than reddish copper. It was fun and I'll do it again in a few months

I love searching bank boxes of Lincolns. My best find was a 1994 DDR, which made MS-63 RD...

At my age (55), it's more tiring, because of the natural order of things, so it requires the use of a 5x magnifier. Used to be I could just go through a thousand in no time. This extra step with a loupe is disheartening, but the search is still a fun part of the hobby/business/industry/game.

    Cheers to you, too.

I really enjoy going through cents, searching for varieties hiding in plain sight. A pseudo treasure hunt. But, it's TIME that escapes me. Between work and family I am lucky to get to a couple of rolls a week. If life would cooperate, I'd surely burn through boxes of lincoln cents, perhaps one a day like vitamins.

I have about 8 boxes that I picked up somewhere but I don't think I'll be searching them soon. --Jerry
