AT or NT? Grade?

The date and the mintmark have been covered up to protect the innocent...

Is this artificial or natural toning? What about a grade?

I'm curious why the reverse is so differently toned than the obverse?

Would the person doing the AT consciously tone the obverse more?

XF-40 but will get put in a Genuine Holder due to the pink putty smeared over the date image

You will also be added to the lawsuit as a Coin Doctor image

Toning looks OK to me but what do I know? image

VERY Nice Coin BTW, I like it image

Try to look underneath the obverse toning. If the image on my monitor is accurate, there are lots of marks, especially in the field near Liberty's left side.

I did see them... do you think the AT was meant to cover them up in addition to providing the color juice to the rest of the coin?

Absolutely. Toning (real or artificial) can hide all kinds of past sins.

How in the world would you "net grade" a coin like this?

It's pleasing in some ways (it's an interesting issue with little wear), but obviously manipulated.

One of the ways to tone silver is to heat it up and then drop XXX lquid on it while hot. problem being you get spots.
