I Always thought this Coin was a Yawner......BUT Thanks to LORDMARCOVAN

I know its not the top of anything grade wise and its a raw 1876 CC ...Did not even know why i bought it in the first place as i told the seller before he shipped it to me but i am really glad that i did. The reason being that it changed my perspective about this series and i really love it. I like the feel, look, smell and sense of holding history in your hands kind of feeling. Thanks LordMarcovan!image (PLS. POST your own Seated coins image)
image My apologies about the poor pics.

Yes - that one has been exchanged many, many times (and cleaned), minted when we celebrated the centennial of this country. Indeed, a nice piece of history.

I know what you mean. In recent years, I've come to like -and yearn after- series like the Seateds and the Barber Liberty Heads, which just didn't interest me early on. I'm looking forward to the day when I can afford to hunt for a nice Seated Dollar! --John

Carrying a pocket piece is a fun way to stay close to the hobby. I like to think about all the people that had the same coin in their pocket over the years. I really enjoy the pre Civil war coins. I like to wonder at who might have had them in their pocket and what the person was doing when the heard about Ft. Sumpter or Antitiem or Lincoln's death. It is also a very fun way to share the hobby.

Ask a person when they heard the Towers came down. Ask then what they were doing. Explain the idea of how the brain imprints important events. Give them a worn out cent from 1860 and talk a bit about who might have had the coin and the events of those five years. More than one collector got off to a start this way.

I really enjoy the seated issues. I have very few of them, however. I just posted a seated half dime a week or so ago.

Here is a fairly new purchase, never shown before. I could not resist 1857 at $18.

I know it's not the greatest of images, but for scans they aren't bad.

Edit to add: A seater quarter is high on my wanted list. My oldest quarter is 1897 whereas dimes I go back to 1835, cents to 1852, and five cent pieces to 1832. My oldest half dollar is also an 1876CC, given to me by a very generous member of this very board! I currently have three seated dimes, 1 seated half dime, and one seated half dollar.
