I think there are some before and after pics that were
posted here at some point in time, but Taco Bell has
these earthy, brown napkins that some have wrapped
their white MS coins in to tone them.

I'd rather have the white MS coins, but it seems that
color is the thing that sells these days.

I like my toning original and 100 years old personally.

Tarnish, the early stages of corrosion, can be accelerated (or induced) by the chemical properties of some napkins (or other paper storage methods). It is considered 'doctoring', although widely practiced - even by those that claim to abhor coin doctoring. Cheers, RickO

Agree. Taco Bell napkins appear to have a high sulfur content which helps with the toning process. This is no different than storing coins in the old kraft paper coin envelopes that collectors used in the old days.

over a year ago I dipped this morgan dollar in a cyanide solution, rinsed it...and wrapped it in a taco bell napkin and put underneath a stuffed bunny rabbit.
the results made a meh looking white morgan into something a little less meh looking. Im not losing any sleep over doctoring a $30 coin. Maybe someday Ill submit it...and it comes back slabbed then write them and tell them that it is AT all the way.

It's a coin and it's yours. You can do what you want with it. In today's environment, when someone asks if I prefer "Paper or Plastic ? "(usually at the grocer), I always answer with "plastic". If it works, go for it... but make sure you use some "nose grease" on your coin first. I believe Bruceswar is the "in house" specialist who can help you achieve the best results.

    Off topic:

We should use molten metal to plug a hole in the ocean floor. It's heavier than drilling fluid and will turn solid. Maybe silver or gold would work. Better yet, how about melting some nickel or copper and pumping it in that pipe ? We have a lot of statehood quarters that would plug that hole.

    End of rant
