A & E has a documentary about this that I have seen before, hard to say if there is anything there or if it was just a empty hole. Many people and millions of dollars has come up empty except for that small link of gold chain and the small piece of paper they found on the drill bit..

Somebody long ago built this 200 plus foot deep pit with booby traps. Seems like a lot of work Not to have something at the bottom of the pit.

The Ark of the Covenant is in the bottom of the pit......
It is like the pandora's box
Once you open it and cannot be closed

The Ark contains a nuclear bomb powerful enough to make the world come to an end

    Oak Island Treasure UK
  • I have read various stories on the subject. I think they all leave something out.
My favorite is the ship that arrived (1880's? I am writing this from memory). They hired a bunch of locals and started digging. One night under cover of darkness the uped and sailed away without paying the locals. I always wondered if they found the treasure and took it.
  • Read a book on the subject 20 years ago when I was a teenager....absolutely fascinating to me. If it is a fake, the lengths they went to are astounding ( 2 cofferdams to hold back the tide for the water traps). Since it was discovered in the late 1700's and it was grown back I believe the Spanish were responsible. Imagine a Spanish treasure fleet carrying tons of gold and silver needing to stop and make repairs en route to Spain. They have engineers on board from mining operations in South and Central America, so they build this vault to protect the treasure. The lighter ships stand a much better chance at making it back to Spain and return with the means to recover the bullion. Alas, they never made it across the Atlantic. Oak Island is the only inlet island covered by oak trees and it's position made it unlikely that passing ships would just stop there.

Add to that the fact that a pair of scissors from 16th century Spain were discovered on the island, and coconut fronds (often used for packing) were used on the water ducts I believe that a South American connection is most likely.

The original engineers were too good. I hope that 21 century technology will solve this mystery.

This has long since passed the point of credulity. While there may have once been something there, it is long gone. The site is now making more money from tourism etc than any treasure may have brought. Cheers, RickO
