Ebay Question

I see an Ebay auction where the payment method is Moneybookers. It seems to be some PayPal alternative. Is this legitimate? Anybody out there seen this before? Is it a red flag? Maybe real competition?

Edit: Here is what I found out.

I contacted EBay chat here is a transcript:

Ken S.: Hello, thanks for waiting and welcome to eBay Live Help! My name is Ken. How may I help you?

Me: Item # xxxxxxxxxxxx is an auction that seems to require Moneybookers for payment. I am not familiar with this. Is it legitimate? My research seems to indicate it is some U.K. based electronic payment system. Aren't sellers required to accept PayPal?

Ken S.: I would like to inform you that, Moneybookers is also a accepted payment method on eBay so you can go ahead and make the payment through moneybookers.

Me: Is it not required that sellers accept paypal?

Ken S.: It totally depends upon the seller what payment method they want to use.

Me: OK thanks

Ken S: You're welcome!

Now if I can trust a seller with no transactions accepting only some odd form of payment?...

I don't see anything in the sell template on Ebay. What's the item number? or send a link?

Moneybookers is a real entity, an accepted form of payment for eBay transactions, and technically a Paypal competitor, but the info about them is confusing. For instance, if you look at Wikipedia it infers that they are basically used for making payments for international deals and that US customers can't use them to receive money, yet on the Moneybookers site it shows evidence to the contrary.

They are listed in the options box of eBay when you select payment methods. so I do not see them as a scam just a little uesed venue.

    Add or remove payment options

    Electronic payment methods

    Immediate Payment

Require immediate payment through PayPal when a buyer uses Buy It Now

    Credit cards

    Moneybookers

    Paymate

    ProPay

    Other payment methods

    Receive payment upon pickup

Lost the format when cutting and pasting but they are there when you turn PayPal off and select Payment methods in the listing item mode.

Not sure why a seller would opt to use Moneybookers instead of PayPal. Fees are substantially higher for small time sellers compared to PayPal
