Your opinion on color/grade of this Barber Half

Hi all,

I would again very appreciate your opinion on the color of this Barber Half. I know there is 10% copper in it - but isn't this color a bit off - to me it looks like copper? I actually like the coin - but...could this color be the result of cleaning or doctoring? I have a few toned silver coins ...but can silver get dark green/grey?? In my opinion this coin doesn't show any traces of cleaning, but you never know...? What you think? (Would be happy if you add your grade opinion)

This are the sellers pics:

Thank you,

I think the color is off, but it very well could be the image ... no way to tell for sure what the color looks like in hand from those images

As for the grade, it looks like it could be an AU53 range coin

    All glory is fleeting.
  • Thank you both!!!

Agree on the color from the pics - if the price is right and I will bid/win - I'll post some "true color" pics image

    Strike and fields.

All I know is if I was buying that coin it would have to be in a slab or my money stays in the bank. If it is a raw coin on eBay then "Cavet Emperour" or how ever you spell "Buyer Beware" in Latin.image
  • Thanx all!!!!

I'd have to see the coin in hand -
but I'd agree it has 55 (+) Details.

Its a coin whose image isn't doing the
coin any good. Not a bad looking coin
but I doubt it'd get into a graded holder
as I'd say the surfaces are altered.

    Good luck.

So, tell me Rok were you the high bidder at $142? Anytime you bid on
coins in Europe, Germany ebay on this one, you take a chance. Many
Europeans clean their coins and that is the norm in a lot of places across
    the pond.

Nice job bob - I can see you find the auction image
Unfortunally my bid was a couple $ lower than final - and I was out when the auction ended so a lost this one image
And I agree with Mike - it was not a bad looking coin + would probably look much nicer in hand.

    Thanx anyway and bye!!
