Phone Phishing

Are the Phisherman trying a new scam? Yesterday we received a call from a phone number with a caller ID from Paypal Inc. The representative asked to speak to Harlan in regards to a Paypal account (I work for Harlan J. Berk Ltd.) I asked them if the phone number she called was on the account. She said yes. I then asked what account she was calling about but refused to answer any questions and could only speak to Harlan. The lady seemed to get very irritated by all the questions especially when I mentioned that there is only 1 account at the phone number and I am an authorized user. She seemed disinterested in confirming her identity and eventually I told her she was not getting through. I then called Paypal and spoke to someone in trust and safety and they said that this was more than likely a spoof. Be very careful people, tactics are changing once again.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

If you broke their ear drum, could they sue you? If they have your phone number, could they use it to find your name and address? With this information, how many pranks could they pull to retaliate against you? Just something to think about.
